More About Coach Mike

I received a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of North Carolina- Wilmington and a M.S. in Health Education from Adelphi University- Garden City. After playing D1 soccer collegiately, I helped assist as a graduate for the UNCW Men’s soccer team. During my time in NC, I also worked with Cape Fear Academy and Port City Soccer Club.

After returning to Long Island, NY in 09’ I began training with Intense Soccer Academy (ISA), Hauppauge and Commack Soccer Clubs. I found a full time position in 2014 at Dwight Englewood in the Health and Wellness department as well as boys soccer & lacrosse assistant coach. I normally work with middle and high school age players, but can adjust to any age range that needs assistance. I hold an “E” ENYSA coaching license and have taken many coaching course throughout my tenure. I am also a certified instructor in Spinning and CPR.

Growing up I was a well rounded athlete playing multiple sports to stay in shape. Lacrosse and soccer were my passions and with that I received a scholarship to the Ohio State University to play Men’s soccer. I lettered two years there then transferred to the University of North Carolina- Wilmington where I finished up my two year of illegibility playing the sport I love. Instead of bouncing around leagues and teams, I decided to start my teaching/ coaching career after college.

Depending on the time frame, I like to get a five to seven minute warm up without the ball to prevent injury and loosen muscles. After the warm up, we will do a fitness activity based on soccer related movements/strength/ agility. This will lead us into our focus for the day and will build up on skills and drills based on that topic. This will be a progression on difficultly and building off the previous technique learned. Depending on time, we can finish with another fitness activity to culminate our sessions.
