More About Coach Miesha

I've been coaching basketball for 5 years and I've been training athletes for 8 years. I've coached high school in Dallas, Tx as a head coach, junior college in Big Spring, MD as an assistant coach and semi-pro as a head coach, also in Dallas, Tx. I work with all age groups, as I've helped host basketball camps for kids as young at 6/7 up to personal skills training with college and semi pro athletes. I stopped coaching for about 2 years because I tore a disc in my back and I've had to rehab, I just moved to the area and would love to get back into it.

I've helped lead teams to different championships on different levels. I've lead conferences in steals and winning Defensive player of the year, consecutively throughout my career. I've played professionally overseas in Africa, trained in Italy and I've played semi-professionally in the states and Mexico. My senior year in college (The University of Texas Permian Basin), I helped lead our team to a championship and a shot at the Sweet 16 tournament; including Tournament MVP, Defensive Player of The Year, Lead in Rebounds and Steals.

The first session always includes small drills and skills sessions to see where the player is at on the skill level and on a conditioning level, depending on the age. Any session after that will be dependent on what the client is trying to gain from training. I focus on offense and defense, I'm always trying to help make a player better all around. If the training is in a group setting, the drills will be different vs a one on one setting. At the beginning of the session, we will stretch and then warm up the legs and arms to prepare for a skills session, then a shooting session before ending with defense and just and about a 10 minute mentor session. I'm really big on mixing mentor talks with training sessions. The talks are about guidance with sports and education and how to navigate the two.
