More About Coach Matt

I have a BSc in Sport and Exercise science and a MSc in Physical therapy. I have experience of training all age groups and people at all levels of fitness from beginner to professional athletes. I use the principles of functional anatomy to help clients retrain the Neuro-muscular system and to develop correct body movement patterns and help them acheive their goals In a safe environment.

Played University level soccer
Worked as physical therapist/trainer for professional youth soccer academy (3 seasons)
Helped to rehab/train various soccer players who continue to play in Scottish/English premier league

Inital assessment includes:
Patient health screen for past medical history, drug history, previous/current injuries. I then discuss and set patient goals using the SMART technique ( specific, measurable, acheivable, realistic and time framed).
Objective assessment includes:
AROM/PROM for all joints
Height
Weight
Blood Pressure
Heart rate
Oxygen levels
Body fat composition using skin calipers.

I use the principles of functional anatomy to retrain the body's neuromuscular system and to develop correct body movement patterns. This technique has been shown to decrease weight, increase flexibility, skeletal muscle mass, balance, transfer into sport and decreased risk of injury.

Many exercises will be body weight and mat work with incorporation of foam rollers, resistance bands, kettlebells, free weights, steps and ladder training
