More About Coach Matthew
I began coaching soccer and basketball 7 years ago at the high school level. Since then, I have worked as an ISSA/NESTA certified personal trainer at XSport Fitness and I have developed youth speed agility and strength/conditioning programs for athletes between the ages of 8 and 18. I currently coach at the U9 and U10 level at Alexandria Soccer Association.
I competed at the varsity level in soccer, track and field, and basketball at Columbia High School, a AA high school in upstate New York. My experience has shown how cross training and playing multiple sports at the youth level can help prevent injury and increase sport performance.
Athletes will develop endurance, agility, strength, power, and balance at an age appropriate level. Young athletes will perform agility ladders, ball control drills, and bodyweight exercises to form foundational athletic skills. Older athletes will add progressions to exercises and add resistance training to develop more strength and power specific to their sport.
