More About Coach Matthew

I have over twenty years of tennis teaching experience. I started teaching tennis the summer after I graduated high school. I have operated my own business, worked for an academy, and worked for local parks and recreation departments. I have a Professional Rating as a PTR Tennis Professional with an emphasis in Ten and Under Tennis. I have a degree in Recreation and Leisure from Arizona State University. I continue my professional development by studying Education, Exercise Science, and Mindfulness practices. I have had the opportunity to teach students who have played at every level of tennis.

Played High School and College tennis. Played for Chippewa Falls High School, was the last man on my tennis ladder my freshmen year of high school and worked my way to a varsity position my senior year. I was the only player to go on and play college tennis. I helped the Mesa Community College tennis team go to nationals my final year. We started the ten year consecutive string of appearances at nationals in Tyler, Texas.

A typical private session will focus on:
1. I first look to see what your stroke(s) look like and giving feedback
2. We will work from the Simple to Complex
Skill development and movement skills lead up to concept development.
Teach with the end in mind- work backwards.
3. Active Engagement

Client Reviews

Coach Matthew Brodt explains the drill, demonstrates it, then practices it. After every practice he ask his players two questions: What did you learn today? What did you enjoy doing? Zuri has had so much fun this year and her passion for tennis continues to grow as well. Thank you for all of your hard work!
I play tennis because I get exercise, I meet different people I learn new things, I hang out with nature, I get better and better each day and most importantly of all is that I have FUN!
We have seen a noticeable change in our daughter's level of confidence, strength, and focus since she began working with Coach Matt. Tennis is fun for her and she enjoys practicing on evenings when there is not class. We had tried many other team sports and just didn't find a good fit until now. We highly recommend Ten and Under Tennis Lessons with Coach Matt!
Our son's only experience with tennis has been with Coach Matt, and he loves seeing improvement in his skills from one week to the next. He is an active 5 year old and enjoys playing and learning with same age peers and is interested in each technique practice. we are grateful that his first tennis experience was with Coach Matt, and we love seeing our son being comfortable with Coach Matt as he learns something new and challenging.
