More About Coach Mark

Currently I coach the womens goalkeepers at Keiser University. I also work for a local travel club where I coach a variety of age groups as well as the clubs goalkeepers. I have my English FA level 1 and 2 coaching badges, and currently working towards my USSF D License. In terms of age groups I have worked with athletes from 7 all the way through to college level.

Before moving to America I played for the professional academy of Sunderland before moving on to Newcastle United. At 16 I went to Gateshead College where I won one national championship and finished runners up another 2 years. During my playing time in America I played as starting goalkeeper for Northwood University, earning 1st team all-conference, NSCAA second team all-regional and NAIA All-American.

Typically session plans will be based on the specific needs of each player, but also maintain a core set-up which covers the main basics that should be worked on consistently. Typically, the first session will involve asessing a players attributes accross the board, from this a specific plan can be developed to address the key areas needed for improvement. In terms of goalkeeping, I have always focused very heavily on footwork, and hand positioning. For me goalkeepers need to have a solid foundation of footwork, a clear understanding of positioning and a confident set position to work from. Once this is achieved then we can drill down more into the specific areas of the position.

Client Reviews

Coach Mark was great with my 11 year old daughter who needed some goalie training for a tryout next week. He was incredibly professional and is amazing for goalie training. He was very flexible as well.

Superb instruction. Patient, good attitude and great teacher.

Really good coach, recommend to everyone!

My daughter had a great experience with Coach Mark. He was very professional and organized, and was proactive in following up on our questions and concerns. He was set up and ready to go at the start of our session, used his training time efficiently, and provided feedback afterwards. Our daughter is specifically interested in keeper training, and Mark's experience with this position was apparent. He was able to quickly assess weaknesses and address them. He was respectful of my child but not easy on her. He made her work hard but kept the atmosphere light and had her laughing at times. In the end, we felt like he was well worth his fee. What's more, my daughter gave us the thumbs up, and is looking forward to her next session with him, and that is what matters in the end.

Coach Mark was awesome!!! My son can't wait to train with him again! Highly recommended.
