More About Coach Lydia

I have over 30 years of coaching, teaching and training student-athletes. I am the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Santa Monica College. I have worked with all age groups through numerous summer camps and clinics over the years. I am also a certified boxing coach as well!

I played college basketball for 3 years at Chapman College which is now Chapman University. We made it to the "Elite Eight."! In terms of my coaching career I am ranked in the top 10 of California Community College Women's Basketball coaches in career wins. During the course of my career I have been selected coach of the year and I have helped many student-athletes at the college level earn college scholarships.

Any client who hires me can expect a professional and detailed approach. I always do a complete evaluation of the clients skills and skill level and also video all sessions as well. In terms of how I run my sessions:
(After speaking to the client a little as they arrive to see how they are feeling, how their day went etc)
*Movement Prep/Dynamic or warmup and stretching
*Passing skills to get moving and work on fundamentals.
*Cone and agility work with and without the ball.
*Fundamental shooting techniques and drills depending on the level of the athlete and what the client wants as well.
*Pivot, protect and drive to work on finishing (If the client knows how to do layups) if not we walk them through the fundamentals.
* Pick and roll, pick and pop or other skills working on off the bounce and off the catch fundamentals
* Freethrows and possibly sprints or defensive slides for missed freethrows.
* Post workout session stretching or cooldown.

I always time my workouts. We train for 1 hour!
