More About Coach Luis

I have been Coaching for Ramapo Valley Soccer Club since Freshman year of college and I am still coaching there. I have been coaching various ages for the past four years ranging from kindergarten to U18's, I find it I am capable of coaching any age group because for Ramapo Valley I have been coaching from u9's girls/boys and u17 and u19 men. I have worked as both a coach and a trainer and trying to broaden my experience. I am currently in the middle of signing up for my D license, but that will take place later in June.

I have been playing soccer since I was very young and have continued to play soccer throughout college. I play at St Thomas Aquinas College. My accomplishments from playing in College are
Freshman year -> I received rookie of the week twice, offense player of the week once, I got athlete of the month for STAC in October, and I was top scorer of the Men's team.
Sophomore year -> I received offense player of the week twice, top scorer of the team, got All conference team, all regions, and all American.
Junior Year -> Top Scorer of the team
I currently just finished my Junior year, so I do not have any updates for my senior year yet. Overall, I feel with all this experience and my love for the sport is what makes me a good coach, it makes me want whomever I coach to be one the top if not the top player in the team.

When I run a session plan it differs for the age I coach, but can stay around the same basic concepts.
First we start with a standard warm-up to get the heart going and ready to play.
Warm-up: I focus on posture with the ball and dribbling techniques, I want to focus on their touch on the ball with all parts of their feet.
Shooting: With several shooting drills on the SKILLZ net one can become a top scorer for their team with just 30 minutes of shooting 3 times a week. Repetition is key.
Fitness: For a player to be competitive for a spot in the starting 11 the player needs to be ready to play at least 75% of the game. With fitness being incorporated in drills with the ball your kid wont be doing pointless running. Maybe a fitness test to see his progress.
Dribbling: This is one, if not the most important sessions. Here we would be develop your kids way of playing, taking care of the ball more while beating players and looking to assist or score.
Defending: I say the first defender is our striker. So that being said everyone needs to know how to defend, in this session we would learn how to tackle properly both sliding and standing, being more aggressive when bumping into other players.
1v1 situations: Both in attacking and defending situation your kid needs to know how to win every 50/50 situation he comes across in the game. Here he would be attacking in small and big spaces both to get out passing and dribbling while defending those situations as well.
Positioning on the field: Today not a lot of kids watch the sport so when they go to play they don't know where to position themselves or where to move off the ball, thats what we would work on here both with and without the ball.
Overall, there are a variety of tactics and techniques that can improve a player, which I know how to teach an individual and as more sessions go by i would know what that player needs more specifically.
