More About Coach Luis

I have over 12 years of coaching experience. I have worked with both boys and girls of various ages. Along with adults as well. All of my work has been with players and or clubs located in the Southern California area. I have coached from the Bronze level (flight 3) to Gold level (flight 1). Although I like to believe my work speaks for itself, I do have many references. At this time I hold a USSF E license. However, I am currently completing the qualifications to obtain my D license.

I made the first selection team and was the top goal scorer in high school. I competed for 2 years in community college, where I also made the first selection team. I trained in Mexico with the professional teams, Chivas and Nacional (now Xolos).

A typical session with me includes an abundance of touches with the ball. Depending on the level and or age of the player touches can range anywhere between 1,000 to 10,000 per session. I focus a lot on coordination and technique. Sessions start with a warm up, muscle activation, speed ladders, then lead into specific work for the individual player.

Client Reviews

Coach Luis is an amazing coach. He is very knowledgeable and very patient with the kids. I really appreciate all his hard work.

Great coach! Look forward to many more sessions for my son.

I strongly recommend Coach Luis for many reasons. He is professional, knowledgeable, and experienced with team, small group and one-on-one training. Coach Luis helped my 12 year old develop as a player in every way:  technical skills, conditioning, game strategy, attitude and sportsmanship. With Coach Luis, you get the whole package, not just dribbling skills or scoring goals. He can make your player a better athlete overall.
Coach Luis since day one came to challenge our selfs. He input in our team Respect, Compromise, Discipline and Hard Work. Also he helped us to understand the fundamentals of this sport and improve physical skills as well. He is tough, always expecting from us in every practice and games to show attendance, punctuality, a 100% effort, focus and leadership, but mostly to put passion in the play to win. Of course some times we didn’t accomplished the results that he wanted but he won’t gave on us. I’m thankful that he taught me which were my capabilities and what skills need to keep improving, also to give always the best of me knowing that “no pain no gain” this is a great experience that will help me to confront different situations in my adult life. Last, I’m grateful as well with Coach Luis because he let me be in touch with him for any concern about me and that means a lot to me. Vidal Marquez Goal Keeper CCFC 2008 LA, CA.
Luis is the Phenomenal Coach. He came to coach our team when the morale was low and our kids needed remarkable change in order to play competitive soccer. Coach Luis gives the kids straight and honest feedback, but in a way that not only motivates them but also challenges them to achieve their individual goals. Initially after a difficult match when they kids showed they worked hard, we often heard him say “you have a super power in you and nobody can take that away from you”.  Any defeat then became an opportunity for improvement and the kids became more driven and started to win more and more games as the season progressed. My 12 year old son used to juggle about 30 max before Coach Luis came to the team and now he can juggle over 1,000!  Our son is now also more confident, competitive and driven to excel and we know Coach Luis has been a big influence to him. Luis’ instruction is highly effective because he gives timely feedback side by side to each player.  He leads by example and is passionate on his coaching.  He asks all players to work their hardest so they can be proud of their game.  He is also a dynamic and well-rounded Coach; the team enjoyed the occasional fun training sessions  including crossbar challenge, soccer tennis, beach soccer, mountain hiking while dribbling, and soccer trivia. Luis also shares good dietary tips for being a professional soccer player and my son’s physical fitness improved immensely. All in all, Luis is a Coach you don’t want to miss. Makoto Tanaka
Coach Luis is a good coach. He thought me how to make better decisions by looking up when I pass and not to force it. He also taught me how do some skills and fakes. He is also a nice coach and knows a lot about soccer.
A quien corresponda.
Luis is more than a coach. He is a mentor, a padrino. His attention to detail goes beyond his excellent soccer acumen. He cares for each child's physical, mental, and emotional growth, and adjusts his instruction based on each individual's developmental needs. His compassion for the sport and the team is respected by his peers, and most importantly, he is a hero to the kids.
Our Boys Luis and Damian have been playing soccer since they were old enough to kick a ball. As you can imagine they have had their fair share of soccer coaches now being 12 and 15. We have had then in various league . AYSO park leagues and private soccer clubs. We have always wanted to expose them to the different types of soccer experiences one can have growing up playing soccer. Out of all of these the best experience was hearing them come home after a practice session with Coach Luis. They always have something new to show is that they have learned. The best part was hearing about the coaching he does not just in skill but in mind. He teaches them to not only be a good player on the field , but the smartest one. You don't always need speed or strength so long as you have wits . Thats something not alot of coaches can teach. Technical things yes. But not always smarts .
