More About Coach Landon
I’ve worked with athletes from youth to professional in over a dozen sports. I am the founder of Art of Mind and the Mind Pillar Director at RPM Athlete Performance. I write the “Mental Edge” column in the New England Soccer, Baseball, and Lacrosse Journals. I also have 6 years of experience working in youth mental health. I have my Masters Degree in Counseling from Springfield College. I also am a trained mindfulness and performance coach/instructor from the Center for Mindfulness at UCSD and the Mindful Sport Performance Institute.
When I was a senior in High School I quit my soccer team. I finally broke down after years of progressively increased pressure, anxiety, self-doubt, and shame, all the while knowing I had more potential then I could access and show under pressure. This led me on a winding path to understand the mental side of performance and in turn took me through mental health, mindfulness, sport psychology, and much more. What I learned is that we’re all on our own journeys and must find our own answers. I aim to support my clients to find their way. The acorn holds all it needs to become the oak tree when it finds the right environment. Thus, I help provide a supportive environment in which each of my clients can thrive and access what already lies within them just waiting to emerge.
I always start with the relationship and helping to build self awareness. I want to know if it feels like this is the good fit and then work to understand what you want out of the process. From there, we can identify strategies, tools, and resources to move in that direction. Motivation is key, so while I believe my clients will find their own answers, I am happy to provide the wealth of suggestions I have when it will help to support my client to stay motivated in the process of self discovery.
