Simply put, phenomental! Coach K exceeded our expectations. My son's first session stayed engaging, interactive & motivating from start to finish. Coach K demonstrated a natural ability to challenge my son while boosting his confidence & maintaining his dignity. Coach K's knowledge of the game provided a tremendous amount of instructional support that was tailored to meet my son's specific needs. His hands-on approach fostered a can-do spirit! It was very evident that Coach K thoroughly planned the session and was prepared with age appropriate materials. If dedication & experience are crucial qualities you look for in a coach, look no further! This is YOUR child's next coach. Thanks Coach K, we'll see you on the court!
Coach Kenya is tough (not mean) – with good reason: He CARES about his Players. When I think of Coach, the following phrases come to mind:
· We’re going to Break Bad Habits and establish good ones
· That’s Good! Now let’s make it BETTER!
· I’d rather you do the RIGHT things and miss, than do the Wrong things and make.
My daughter never had a tough coach before and it took a while to adjust. The breakthrough came when she realized that he had come to several of her games to see her in action – on his own accord. He volunteered to come and evaluate the elements of her game which needed the most work. Now, she loves training with Coach, enjoys the sessions and is seeing positive results on the court.
If a player has the internal desire to be the best and is willing to work, I recommend Coach Kenya.

Kenya Smith coached my son for 5th grade, Centerville Hustle basketball during the 2014-2015 season. Coach Smith was new to the area that first season, and our initial impression of him was nothing less than complete surprise! His drive and authentic desire to lift each player to a high level of self-respect through hard work and a better understanding of the game was refreshing. He wanted to show each player what he could do, and he had a plan! In addition to regularly scheduled court time, Coach Smith communicated team strategies effectively while commanding complete team cohesion; he emailed additional skills practice updates, worked after scheduled practice times to fine tune and perfect individual skills, and planned private training opportunities to assure player and team success. Teaching the value of intrinsic rewards, Coach Smith conditioned each player to reach for his own personal threshold through ongoing verbal and nonverbal correction coupled with praise.
Coach Smith made each boy believe his position was the most valuable toward the team's success. If you were to ask each player about all of this work, he would energetically smile and say, "We had so much fun." Demanding excellence, pushing them to see more and be more, Coach Smith's vision for each player and our team was quickly contagious and fruitful. His passion for the game tempered by compassion for each player was the winning combination that brought our team to the top. Simply stated, Coach Kenya Smith brings something new to Centerville coaching, and it works!
From elementary school through high school, I played a litany of sports. I can say in all candor that I never came across a better coach than coach Kenya. He not only provided very thorough fundamental development and insight into basketball strategy, but managed to build a sense of team as effectively as I have ever seen. Coach Kenya's knowledge of basketball, combined with his incredible interpersonal skills make him one of the most remarkable coaches that I have ever had to pleasure to meet.
