More About Coach Keith
Since college and for nearly a decade, I have been a coach and P.E. teacher at the Saint David's School in New York City. I have also been lucky enough to coach the boys varsity basketball team at the Dalton School. I am also the co-founder and director of 9D sports, which hosts camps, clinics, and training for athletes of all ages throughout the tri – state area. (@9dsports) I have also coached both football and lacrosse which has aided in my cross training approach. I also currently coach the Greenwich Country Day School boys varsity basketball team.
I played basketball at the Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, New York. During my career at Poly Prep, I served as a team captain as we won 3 consecutive Ivy league championships, which were highlighted by a Class C New York State Championship. Before I graduated, I joined the 1,000 point scoring club and received All Ivy, All City, and All State honors. I then earned a full scholarship and continued my basketball career at Colgate University, where I obtained my degree in Education. Although plagued with injuries, I was able to earn All Rookie Team Honors in the Patriot League. My senior year I led our team in FG%, guard rebounding, and I was named captain.
After college I played in the NYC competitive summer basketball circuit for many summers; highlighted by playing in Dyckman, Rucker, Tri-State, and West 4th.
I start every session with my dynamic stretching ball handling routine. After that I go through my finishing and shooting progression. Then we will begin the focus or client need for the day. I feel every basketball player needs to be able to confidently handle the ball for 3-5 dribbles. Additionally, everyone needs to be able to make uncontested layups as well as shoot a high percentage from close range when unguarded.
