My goal is to make sure my athletes have a take away from every session. It may be a mechanic she is perfecting or a mental note to help through pressure situations on the mound. View all coaching experience

More About Coach Katherine

I have been training pitchers and hitters in softball since I was a junior in college at the University of La Verne in Southern California. I have trained athletes from 7 years old to 18 and about to leave for college. I am a member of Toni Paisley's online pitching academy and have learned so much from her in addition to my collegiate pitching coach, North Dakota State Alumna, Whitney Johnson. I have coached upwards of 50 individual athletes as well as a 16U Travel Organization out of Pasadena, CA.

I was a 3x First Team All-SCIAC pitcher at the University of La Verne. In my senior season I pitched 167 innings as the Leopards tabbed the first place spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 25-3 record. I was selected the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference MVP in 2016.

The first few sessions with a new athlete I will want to go through a short dynamic warm up. This may include some power/ explosive drills depending on the athlete's age & ability. Then we will move into our pitching warm up. This will ALWAYS include wrist snaps first then we will progress through drills such as "T's", "stationary windmills" then walk throughs and/ or full pitches if the athlete is experienced. After an initial evaluation, we will determine what the athlete needs to focus on most. If we are just starting, we will spend each sessions focused on one mechanic at a time. If the pitcher is more advanced, we will alternate between "power" and "finesse" days. "Power" sessions will focus on explosiveness off the mound and working to generate top velocity. These will be physically tough workouts and will build mental toughness. "Finesse" sessions will focus on command of the pitches we already have and developing new movement pitches when appropriate.
