More About Coach Kaitlin

I swam for the University of Florida from 2010-2014. I am a two time Olympic Trials Qualifier in 2008 and 2012 and am also a NCAA Division 1 All American. I personally specialized in freestyle and butterfly sprint events, however, I am very well versed in all four strokes. I’ve been coaching technique sessions for over 10 years in both a camp group setting and personal 1 on 1 settings. I’ve coached at Swim Labs OC as an Elite Competitive Coach, the Florida Gator’s Summer Camp for two seasons, the Gemma Spofforth Summer Camp for a season and personal lessons for 10 years. I have coached competitive swimmers of all levels, triathletes, open water swimmers and water polo players. My goal is to understand each swimmer’s personal goals and develop a strategy to help them achieve them. All success starts with a plan. Let’s help get you where you want to be!

-2 Time Olympics Trials Qualifier
-NCAA D1 All American
-Swam at the University of Florida from 2010-2014. Class Captain 2013-2014.
-5 time Florida State Champion

Step 1: Understand what the swimmer’s goals are and which stroke they would like to focus on.
Step 2: Analyze the stroke. I will analyze the swimmer’s stroke to see what we need to work on. I can identify the areas the swimmer needs to work on within the first part of the very first session.
Step 3: Drills. This is the main focus of the session. After I identify the focus areas, we will go through a series of drills. As we’re working on these drills I will be constantly asking the swimmer for feedback on how they are feeling in the water. I will make sure they are understanding the technique work and can feel a difference within their stroke.
Step 4: Pace work. I will ask the swimmer to do some full speed pace work after we’ve worked through the technique drills. This is so they can implement the key technique focus areas back into their stroke.
Step 5: Light cool down. We will always do a light cool down around 100-200yds depending on how far and how fast we went in our session.
Step 6: Verbal recap. As the swimmer is getting out of the pool I will verbally ask them to recap the technique focus areas. This will ensure that they fully comprehended the “why” behind the session and can implement the technique work in practice every day.
