More About Coach Jordan

I have coached for 4 years at middle school and high school levels. The track team I helped in Kentucky was Fort Campbell High School. I have the most experience with freshmen and sophomores but have helped all ages 12+. I have instructed my runners on many different aspects of running from building endurance and weight training to body weight mechanics for sprinting and distance running to optimize efficient use of energy.

When I was in high school I ran AAU track and made the Junior Olympics in the 400m dash where I placed in the 30s. I ran track to Fort Campbell High School. I am a 2 time state champion in the 400m and Qualified for 4 events in state each of my years of high school track. The events I competed in in state were the triple jump, 400m, 200m, 800m, and Pole Vault. I placed in every event I competed in at state level all five years I competed at a varsity level. I also ran Cross country for two years both times qualifying for the State Meet. I was a walk on at University of Kentucky where I competed at a D1 level in the 200m, 400m, and 800m before an injury sidelined me from the sport.

A typical session would depend on the runner and what their strengths and weaknesses are. It would also depend on the time of year in relation to their season. During off season a session would typically begin with conditioning (e.g., long run, HIIT, body weight lifting); this would last typically the greater part of the session. Next we would move on to dynamics of running (e.g., drive phase positioning, correct arm swing). During a season a session would be more targeted on what the athlete needs more work on. I am a big believer in data and will (with permission) record and play back phases of running and teach the athlete to spot themselves where they could do better.
