More About Coach Jonathan

I have been a strength and conditioning coach for 8 years working with athletes from the youth level to the professional. I have trained numerous Division 1 Football players, as well as the Georgia State Champion Basketball Team (2015-2017) Greenforest Christian Academy. I work mostly privately/independently with my athletes but I have worked for Life Time Fitness and currently Crunch Fitness. I am currently NASM certified and am in the process of completing my MAT Specialist Certification.

I played every sport all my life until almost the end of high school (basketball, football, track, swimming, etc.). However I did not compete on the collegiate or professional level as I started developing Epilepsy while still playing high school football. I had such a love for the game that I always stayed close to it, though. Once I got to college I knew I wanted to be a Kinesiology major so that I could help future athletes to the best of my ability.

I first assess how my athlete moves. From basic fundamental movements, to explosive dynamic ones. From there I determine any muscle imbalances or weaknesses just to see if there’s anything extra we should focus on. After that I have them do some myofascial release (foam rolling), light dynamic stretching then we begin the workout. The workout is typically an hour long and is strength based utilizing free weights, machines, kettlebells, sleds, and a wide range of other equipment. Technique during the workout is based more on their goal, for athletes purely looking for size; I emphasize time under tension, very slow reps with a mix of light and high weight and reps to get the maximum pump each workout. For athletes looking to increase performance: the stress is more on explosive, functional movements that replicate the sport they want to improve.
