More About Coach John

After graduating from college. I was able to coach two years of high school football. Roman Catholic HS (PA) Eastern Regional HS (NJ). Due to my current/life long career choice in Law enforcement, I am unable to commit the time to a high school program. I miss coaching the offensive line and I am looking for a way to share my passion for the offensive line and the game of football.
-I am looking to train athletes mostly in 8th grade and higher.
-I am not here to tell the athlete what's the "right way" or "over step" their current position coach, rather add to the athletes overall perspective of the position and the game.

College: William Paterson University (NJ) DIII [2009-2013]
Played all 4 years in all 40 games.
Fr.-TE/Special teams
SO/JR.- Started Left tackle
SR.- Started Right tackle/Center due to injuries towards the end of the year
-Sr. Year 2nd team all conference, invited and Started in the Martin Luther King Dream Bowl in Roanoke VA

Roman Catholic High School (PA)
-2 yr. Varsity starting Center (2007 PCL Catholic League champion Red division (PA)-Junior Season
-Senior year Captain
-Selected and started in the Philadelphia City All Star Game

I have almost 18 years of football experience, and played at many levels.

-My main goal is to make the athlete a great person, TEAM player, football player, and an effective offensive lineman no matter the size.

-I have always prided myself as being a student of the game. I had a lot of GREAT coaches in my life and I learned how to take little things from each one and utilize it on and off the football field.

-I am very open minded when it comes to the drills and technique sessions. If an athlete is not necessarily confident in a specific area, I would focus on those areas to make them a more confident player and expand on anything they wanted to work on.

-As a player and a coach, I have many drills for pass protection, run blocking-zone or power, and foot work....LOTS of footwork.

-Technique is a big component of offensive line play and I would break down each technique and why I found success in utilizing it...Again i am not here to tell the athlete what's THE way.

-I would have no problem doing film sessions with an athlete if they had access to old games or anything they wished to break down.

-One v one pass protection
-Center steps/Snaps
-Zone blocking schemes, steps, hand placements
-Hand fighting *The defense is not the only players that can use their hands
-Latter and Cone footwork drills, include shuttle run and 40 yard dash
-Explosion drills
-Lifting techniques (Does not mean we would need to be in a gym)

-I have multiple coaches and players I played with that could be references for my knowledge and passion for football as references if you are on the fence about anything.
