More About Coach John

My coaching experience began At Evanston Township High School where I ran clinics and camps with my fellow Varsity teammates and coaches. We hosted kids ranging from K-8th Grade. We maintained a fun environment which focused on key fundamentals and skills such as ball handling, form shooting, passing, teamwork and player development customized to each camper. As I continued into my collegiate playing career at Carthage College, I also was able to continue assisting in K-12 sports camps and clinics which focused on improving student athletes' skillset to get them to the next level. Camps included competitive tournaments after initial skill-work and work stations were completed.

During the summers of 2014 and 2015 I was the Assistant Camp Director at Harper College in Palatine, IL. I developed and executed a successful youth summer basketball camp for grades K-12 which included planning, marketing, and instructing responsibilities. At Harper College, I worked directly with the Head Coach and communicated goals, expectations, and camp evaluation outcomes to parents and participants.

Throughout College I have also volunteered my time coaching AAU, feeder leagues, Greek Basketball tournaments, and individual 1 on 1 training sessions which have allowed me to become efficient in evaluating players strengths and weaknesses. I currently volunteer my time as a practice player for the DePaul Blue Demons and WNBA's Chicago Sky. This has allowed me to observe and participate in demanding and high level practices that I can take with me when coaching youth. With numerous years of basketball experience I am able to target specific tendencies in players' games that must be improved or honed in on which will allow us to reach the next level!

In High School I was the Captain of the Evanston Township High School Boys Basketball team. Collectively we won the 2011 & 2012 Conference Championship and 2012 4A Regional Championship and 4A Sectional Championship. As a captain I was comfortable in both starting roles and coming off the bench. I was recognized with multiple CSL Conference Player of the Week Awards and won the Regional 3 Point Shoot Out. Throughout high school, I was a Member of RMG Hoops A Team where I won multiple all tournament awards our team competed in national 17u and 18u tournaments.

I was able to continue my playing career in the NCAA as a part of the Carthage College Redmen Men's Basketball Team where we competed in the CCIW Conference. Learning from legendary Head Coach Bosko Djurickovic, I experienced rigorous NCAA practices and valuable game preparation.
