More About Coach John

I have over 20+ years of practicing martial arts. I’ve trained High school athletes and adults in both fitness and martial arts (Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Filipino Kali). I normally work with age groups 21-55+ both males and females. I am a certified Black Belt by ATA (American Taekwondo Association). I used to train coach at Iron Flex Gym and ITM Fitness from 2013-2015 and have been coaching on my own since 2016.

I’ve competed in the ATA tournaments and placed 2nd in the Black Belt round in 2003.

I’ve competed in NAGA brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament in 2012 and placed 3rd regional as a blue belt.

I typically start with a 10 min of stretches and 10 min of cardiovascular workouts to improve conditioning and fitness. Then I understand the level that the client is at I start by teaching them fighting stances and basic shadow boxing moves focusing on form and technique. Typically each session will have a focus on 3 different styles of martial arts, and towards the end of the session we tie it all together to build an understanding of how the arts connect and how the anatomy of the body works when practicing martial arts.
