NEW PITCHERS- Must complete a (ONE TIME ONLY FEE) pitching evaluations, prior to booking any lesson package. All lessons booked though CoachUp are protected by their 100% money back guarantee, within the first 48 hours after the lesson.

HANDS ON INSTRUCTION - Pitchers not only get verbal instruction but also will see me pitch LIVE during every lesson. You will NOT see me teaching, sitting on a bucket. It's important for your daughter to be able to fully understand body movement. Body awareness is extremely important for a pitcher all from, the feel of the snap, drag of the toe, follow through, to the turn of the hips. Some young pitchers are visual learners, and this helps them understand and put together the verbal instruction. (this goes for batting lessons as well)

• Fundamentals & Mechanics
• Ball Control
• Ball Movement
• Velocity

COMMITMENT - Will be YOUR #1 requirement to get to the next level. My goal as your coach will be to get you ready for travel ball, high school ball, and or college ball. I have a NO EXCUSE policy! I will commit 110% to you, therefore I will need the same in return from you.

***PLEASE NOTE*** No same day appointment!! Please book at least 48 hours in advance. If you are in need of a same day appointment PLEASE send me a message first, to make sure I'm available. Thank You!

Wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes (no cleats), and bring any other equipment that you will need for your lesson. BRING WATER!

What is the cancellation policy? ( CoachUp Cancellation Policy, see under FAQ)
If an athlete must cancel a scheduled session, the athlete must provide the coach with at least 2 days advance notice. If the coach doesn’t receive that 2-day advance cancellation notice, the coach may, at his or her discretion, mark that session complete and receive payment in full.

*****************Benefits of Private Lessons*********************

Team coaches have a lot to attend to—they must take care of administrative duties and possibly balance long-term program development with developing the skills of current athletes. With so much on their plate, team coaches may find it difficult to give each player the undivided attention he or she needs to improve. Private lessons from an experienced softball instructor gives players the individualized instruction they need to reach their full potential.

Basic fundamentals and mechanics in pitching, ball control, ball placement, and velocity. Focusing on ball control first, then velocity, followed by ball movement.

The Basics...Grip, Stride, Arm Rotation

MECHANICS FIRST – Learn, practice, and develop good pitching mechanics first...do NOT worry about throwing strikes when you are learning how to pitch. Learn how to do it right, make certain that everything is correct and smooth, then later you can start adding speed. Control (throwing strikes) should not be an issue in the beginning. First learn the correct way of doing the pitching motion and delivery. Then LATER you can work on being accurate and throwing strikes.

Are you ready to learn the Change up, Drop ball, Rise, Curve, & Screwball? After several months of hard work and practice on the fundamentals, correct mechanics, speed, and accuracy, then most pitchers are ready to proceed with learning one additional pitch.

Warming up properly and completely…in practice or before games…is essential for good pitching performance. The better you stretch and warm-up the better you will pitch.

LEADERSHIP- BE THE LEADER OF YOUR TEAM! We will talk about how you as a pitcher will be responsible for taking charge. How to have a VOICE on the mound that is respected by your teammates. A pitchers body language and attitude on the mound is just as important, has her having a great fast ball.

Know your BATTERS and where to place the ball. We will go over different batter scenarios, and how to pitch SMART!

VIDEO ANALYSIS -frame by frame, audio, drawing, and video movement. (included in Elite Hour Lessons)

We will talk about taking care of your arm to avoid injuries.

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.

My 9 y/o girl just had her 1st lesson with Coach Jill (I drove over an hour to get to her). She loved it! Coach Jill is very patient yet firm with the kids. She definitely wants the kids to improve and be on top of their game. I will post more reviews as time progress.

UPDATE: Coach Jill is very fast paced with her coaching style. She keeps the kids focused and time just flys by during her sessions.Coach Jill also sends her feedback/recap after every lesson. She is very detail oriented with her feed back. I have my girl read the feedbacks before every lesson as a recap of what she needs to improve on.

1 MONTH UDATE: Coming from ZERO experience pitching, my girl is starting to look like a pitcher! She still has a few issues, however, Coach Jill will identify and address them as she sees fit. She will focus on correcting and drilling the issue. Coach Jill has been superb especially when I choose to practice under the sun during the hottest time of the day to simulate real world conditions.

2-3 Month Update: We are indoors now!! Coach Jill has obtained exclusive rights to coach at an indoor facility and it is definitely more comfortable for the parents. As far as progress, Coach Jill introduced a few velocity and accuracy drills to help increase speed and accuracy. So far I've noticed the velocity increased 3-5 mph on average and accuracy has improved 15% to 18%.

We are so happy that Jill will be giving Madeline pitching instruction.
She has a lot of experience but more important is her ability to teach in a way that my daughter understands. We have heard wonderful things about Jill and after one lesson we can understand why she is so respected. We can't wait to watch our daughter grow into the pitcher she wants to be.

Most important my Daughter liked Coach Jill & asked to be signed up for More Lessons!! Jill knows her business but made it enjoyable for my daughter!! She looking forward for more DRILLs!!

Coach Jill has lots of experience and great with kids. Very thorough in the way she teaches, insuring that both my daughters know the proper mechanics on the positions they are getting taught. All I can say is WOW! My girls look forward to each lesson. Thanks Coach Jill !!!

I'm very happy with my daughters progress.

We love coach Jill! She is patient, kind but firm in a positive way. My daughter has already improved after just 2 lessons. If you want excellence, coach Jill is your girl. Her attention to detail is spot on. Her passion for coaching is obvious and my daughter connects with happy people. Winner winner!!!

Coach Jill is great with my daughter and my daughter is improving at a fast pace. My daughter always looks forward to practice with Jill. We are thankful that she goes the extra mile! Thank you Coach!!!!

Hello Jill, We just want to thank you so very much for helping our daughter with her pitching this year. As you know, she only took lessons to “try out pitching”, but in the 2 short months that she has worked with you, she is already pitching at the level of our leagues veterans. She is in love with this position and is pitching wherever she goes! And because of your teaching her body mechanics and preventative maintenance, she is teaching me about how to take care of her arm. I also want to thank you very much for attending Hailey’s game. It meant the world to her that you were there cheering her on, especially since we had to attend our other kids games. Your coaching Hailey has really made her “like” for softball, become a “love” for softball. She is becoming more responsible and making sure she warms up properly. That’s all because of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
I played softball with Jill from 1st grade through our first year in college. She has extensive experience and an in-depth understanding of the game. Her pitching techniques have proven to be effective. She offers great training and a fun learning experience.
If you're looking for a pitching coach that will help prepare your daughter for the next level, Jill Otto Merriweather is the right choice. Jill was very successful in High School and College because she had the determination and work ethic. She will guide your daughters in the right direction, because she knows what it takes. She will prepare them and teach them to play with passion.
