I competed for 11 years for the Chicago Park District, where I was also nationally ranked in my last 4 years. I was the first in Chicago Park District history, to compete at J.O. Nationals. I was a level 10 gymnast before I retired. I moved overseas with my family, so I never got the chance to compete collegiately. Along with gymnastics I played and coached baseball, basketball, and football. The last two years I have played Semi-Pro Football. I'm certified in Fitness in Nutrition and I will be going back to school where my focus will be Sports Management/Coaching.

A typical session with me usually consists of a 10-15 minute stretch, then depending on how much work a gymnast needs on an event, we will plan for a 1 event session or 2 event session. I include a lot of progressive drills for the skills a gymnast needs work on because my motto for gymnastics is, drills are your skills. I don't believe in just having a gymnast throw a skill and they haven't properly work the progressions up to said skill. You will be getting 110% from me every session.

Client Reviews

(My Gymnastics Coach) Darion Knight To Whom It May Concern: I have known Jihad Salahuddin for over 15 years, and had the privilege of coaching him in gymnastics for over 10 years at Beverly Gymnastics and the Chicago Park District. From this experience, I can say with confidence that Jihad was a dedicated and determined athlete who led by example. Due to his work ethic, desire, passion and love of the sport, I feel he will be an asset to your program. As a young gymnast, Jihad became an invaluable member of the team. Jihad always gave 100%, and quickly earned a leadership role among his peers. While having the privilege of coaching him, Jihad stood out as a leader both in and out of the gym. He earned numerous awards throughout his gymnastics career, including many first place finishes in local competitions, and top finishes in many State and Regional competitions. He was also a Junior Olympic National Championship qualifier, and National Future Stars qualifier, which took place at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also volunteered his time encouraging and leading strength training for younger gymnasts on the team. Jihad’s goal has always been to become a full-time gymnastics coach. I know that he will be an outstanding addition to any program. Sincerely, Darion Knight Program Specialist and Principal Coach Park District of Oak Park
