More About Coach Jesse
Currently, working at Chicago City Soccer Club as a Mental Skills Coach. I have worked with athletes ages 6-24 improving their mental game. I strive to equip my athletes with the tools they need to succeed, including goal-setting strategies, visualization techniques, positive self-talk, and stress management tactics. I also place a large emphasis on personal growth to improve the well-being of my athletes off the field too.
I am working to obtain my hours to sit for the CMPC exam so I can become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. I have obtained my Master's degree in Sport and Human Performance in August 2023. In 2021 graduated from West Virginia University, earning a B.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
I played softball for about 12 years up until I graduated from high school. I was a captain for two years and as the lone senior, I helped lead my team to a state championship in 2017. I played field hockey for two years in high school as a goalie. I have tried various sports throughout my life.
My first and most important standard is to create an inclusive working relationship. I want to understand the person first and then the athlete second. I believe that is the best way to promote excellent performance. I focus on teaching mental skills that will transfer to all domains of life, like positive self talk and breathing techniques. As I learn from the athlete about their specific needs, we will work collaboratively to create a individualized plan of action.
