More About Coach Jaime

I have over 15 years of coaching experience including coaching at the semi-professional, international competition, high school, and elite youth travel baseball levels. My diverse coaching background enables me to relate to players of all ages and with all skill sets. I am active in promoting high school players to collegiate programs. I know what it takes to play and succeed at the next level; all of my training sessions are individually tailored to enable a player to reach their full potential.

My playing experience includes semi-professional, international competition, collegiate, and high school. I played three seasons at the semi-professional level. my playing experience included three seasons of international play in Australia; four seasons of college baseball utilizing the JUCO route and three seasons of high school varsity baseball.

Prior to our initial training session, I will speak with both the player and parent(s) to identify specific area(s) of the game where the player is struggling and/or is looking to improve. Once we've determined what area(s) the player and parent(s) want to address, I will establish a deliberate development training plan based upon the player’s experience level, the desired goal and the area(s) seeking improvement. Throughout each session the player is encouraged with positive feedback to increase and promote player development, confidence, and to develop a positive mental approach.
Our training sessions leverage the latest in technology and training tools available, including video analysis to reinforce player learning and development. What separates me from other coaches is my coaching style; I coach the complete player and my methods promote the rapid transfer of our training into gameplay results.
As an example: A player is struggling with inconsistent and weak hitting; his or her confidence is declining.
For this player, a typical 60-minute hitting session would include:
Prior to session:
• The player arrives 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled lesson for independent stretching and warm-up. (I provide every player with a specific dynamic stretching and warm-up routine.)
During our session we would work on:
• Drills to promote proper swing sequence
• Drills to improve a player’s timing
• Drills to promote an early and long pitch plane throughout the hitting zone
• Drills to establish a balanced stance and a quiet head throughout the swing
• Soft toss drills to increase barrel control
• Live pitching to include game situation scenarios
• Session review with player and parent(s)
• Homework drills designed to carry the player between sessions
As the player progresses through our training plan, I add drills that:
• Promote increased bat speed
• Add power to their swing
• Increase hard and consistent contact
