I hold a PhD in biochemistry and I am certified with the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN) as well as Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist (METS1)
I am the Owner and Performance Nutritionist at INprove.me
• I provide individual athletes and teams with strategies for daily nutrition and fueling during training and racing.
• I train athletes from beginner to elite to improve their Metabolic Efficiency also known as the ability to burn fat for fuel.
• I also work at RunSafe, UCSF Human Performance Labs where I provide runners with nutrition analysis and counseling as part of a comprehensive team approach to improve performance.

I am a long time endurance athlete and I have completed multiple Ironman, Marathons and Ultras. I usually place in the top 10% in my Age Group. I also qualified twice for the Boston Marathon.

I like to tackle daily nutrition first as this is the pillar for performance and recovery. Then we can get more specifics and address the needs for your training sessions and racing. We can also look at functional foods and supplements that will help achieve your goals.

Thanks for all your great nutrition counsel! The devil is in the details for sure. Most of us athletes have heard a lot about what we should be doing, but I guess not many know how to actually apply it to our individual situations, other than trial and error. It’s hard to isolate the factors so what I found over the years was mostly error….never cracking the code. You helped me with your “code” cracking and helping me stay accountable. The result of our work this past year was four minutes and 22 seconds improvement over my last PR at the half iron distance. And, the day was windier on the bike than usual, so the improvement was actually greater. We trained my body for better metabolic efficiency and overall I ate less and felt better. Oh, and I did I add that although it wasn’t my goal, I lost weight and became leaner to be meaner for the race!! Thanks!
I worked with Isabelle in January 2016. I have struggled with gastro-intestinal (GI) issues at 70.3 and 140.6 events. In working with Isabelle I learned easy way to incorporate more protein and real foods into my diet and moving away from processed foods during the day and Gu during my races. I also took the metabolic test which was life changing. We learned I am a great fat burner and did not need nearly the calories I had been consuming during training and races. I have moved to only taking on about 180 calories on the bike and this seems to resolved my GI issues on the run. In addition, I think all her nutritional support this past year has helped me to reach my first two podium finishes in Olympic Triathlon races! I am excited to prepare for my next 140.6 with all my new knowledge from Isabelle!
