As a Sophomore, made the traveling squad for the University of Buffalo Golden Bulls, playing Division I football. Attending UB on a full NCAA Grant-In-Aid, returned punts and kick-offs and started four games (Kent State, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Temple University) at Defensive Back. As a Freshman, started at both quarterback and free safety for the UB Freshman team. Posting a 2-3 record, beat Army and Kent State, lost to Syracuse, Navy and Manlius Prep School (Syracuse University's designated football prep school). UB dropped football following the 1970 season and I transferred to Ashland College to finish out my college football career.

Coaching is Teaching at its best - I am committed to TEACHING my clients. Initially, I assess and test each individual client to determine strengths and weaknesses, identifying key areas for improvement. Then, following just 5 workouts, we re-test to see marked improvement. My clients can expect a high intensity workout that includes form running and agility drills to improve running technique, speed improvement and coordination. Sessions can and will also include instruction on skills/technique by position if requested. I work to teach my athletes valuable life lessons in conjunction with improving their overall athletic skills. My goal is to help make them a better person and a better football player.

Client Reviews

Coach Bud is exactly what we were looking for in a coach for our teenager daughter who has decided to break into high school football. We still don’t know if she will get the opportunity to play and represent her school , but already, Bud is teaching her more than just the fundamentals of football. He is focusing on confidence and self advocacy as well. Given the lofty goal she has set, we as parents are glad to have a coach concerned with how an athlete performs on the field as well as how they represent themselves off the field.
We are looking forward to what the future holds.

As an incoming freshman and novice to the game of football Coach helped me and taught me a lot about the game. Our sessions together were well planned and he made sure that the time we had together was of maximum benefit. He introduced me to proper running techniques, proper hand placement when catching. He taught me about the importance of footwork. We will definitely book more sessions if we have time once our schedule school practices start. Well worth the investment!

Having had the opportunity to work with Bud at several USA Football events, I can say that his genuine approach creates an authentic and engaging connection to his audience and the athletes he works with. His core messages on leadership, character and communication have a universal appeal.
I hired Bud Boughton to be a featured speaker at a USA Football Coaching School held at the Indianapolis Colts complex (over 350 youth and middle school coaches in attendance). He was excellent!
