More About Coach Ézel

With 7+ years of coaching/training experience, I bring the passion and understanding necessary to help players attain their athletic goals. I have worked with a variety of athletes ranging in skill level and age (from toddlers in beginner camps to young adults as collegiate athletes).

Over the past 7 years, I have trained/coached at numerous basketball camps including group sessions at the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center (kids - teenagers), George Mason Basketball Camps (kids - teenagers), and Evolution Basketball (kids - teenagers). I've also assisted in coaching for the Fairfax Stars, an elite AAU basketball team in Virginia.

Played for a Division III school my freshman year where I earned multiple honors including Player of the Week and MVP. I was a versatile combo guard with a relentless defensive mentality and the ability to shoot or attack the basket--I was primarily known for my high-percentage shooting, averaging almost 40% behind the arc as well as from the field.

Clients can expect to maximize strengths and improve weaknesses in my training sessions. They will learn a variety of skills essential to the game such as how to: Score in their position – improve range, shoot off the dribble, finish at the rim; Dribble under pressure; Move without the ball – cutting, setting and using screens; Pass; Defend; Execute position play – post & perimeter spacing, footwork, decision making; Communicate effectively; Compete; and will ultimately gain life skills (responsibility, discipline, passion, conditioning, character, confidence, enthusiasm, persistence, concentration, alertness, and dedication), as well.

Sessions are customized to fit the needs/goals of the individual athlete and may include any combination of the following:
Stretching and other injury prevention techniques
Drills
Game-like situation training
Game-speed preparation
Technique improvement (shooting, dribbling, etc.)
Overall wellness tips (weight lifting, nutrition, conditioning, etc.)

Client Reviews

Coach Ezel is fantastic! My 14 year-old son has taken 4 lessons with him and his game has dramatically improved. Coach Ezel has worked with him specifically to improve his dribbling skills, develop an understanding on when to use different dribbling techniques, clean up his shooting form and understand how to better play his position. He even sneaks in some conditioning to simulate game fatigue and shows players how that impacts your shooting. My son was a good basketball player before lessons (has played since kindergarten), but the extra attention from someone as experienced as Coach Ezel has had a tremendous positive impact on him, his abilities and his confidence . I would recommend Coach Ezel for any age player, regardless of level, due to his coaching approach (very positive) and overall knowledge of the game.

Coach Ezel did a tremendous job with my son. In our first session my son made an improvement with his dribbling and footwork. My son has more confidence in his dribbling. My goal is to stick with Coach Ezel. My son plays AAU ball and I fell the Coach Ezel will be able to help my son reach his full capability.

I haven't played in 2 years and my first workout back went better than I expected. Coach Ézel never makes you feel pressured and makes it fun which is what basketball is meant to be. I definitely recommend getting work in with him if you're serious about your career or looking to stay in shape.

I solicited the service of another coach on "coach up" previously, although it was okay, it was a cookie cutter approach and did not entice me to continue services. Coach Ézel came highly recommended by a friend and after one session of working with my 10 year old son, I immediately extended the package to 6 sessions, Coach Ézel attended two of my son's games and used his observations to outline and customize his training sessions, working with him weekly to promote and encourage his high points and strengthen his challenges. I am already seeing a difference in Jordan's time on the court, he is a lot more confident and clear in his role when playing. Coach Ézel is easy to talk to, very professional and possesses excellent customer service skills. Highly recommended.

Coach Ezel is very professional, knowledgeable, energetic and pushed Jordan from start to finish. Coach Ezel even took time out of his day to attended Jordans game. I will be booking more sessions and, I've already passed his name along! Jordan is very excited about continuing his training with Coach Ezel.

Coach Z is a nice coach. He put me to work and it was challenging, but I enjoyed it and endured. But we also had fun with lots of laughs and lots of smiles. I came to Coach Z thinking I was Steph Curry (with the shot, boy) but quickly realized I needed help and Coach Z was there to get me closer to that goal. Overall Coach Z helped me gain confidence in my basketball skills and I would be glad to come back.
Coach Z is extremely athletic and knows a lot about the game. He is patient, energetic, and always has a good attitude. My daughter came in with little basketball experience and we have seen major improvement in only about a month of sessions. She will be trying out for the basketball team this school year and we're looking forward to seeing her new skills be put into action. We'll be keeping contact with him during the season, for sure!
