More About Coach Eric

I taught middle school P.E and coached the basketball and volleyball teams in Berkeley, CA from 2012 -2014
I have been running athletics classes (Football and various sports) with a few organizations for the past 10 years. One on One Basketball, Fit Kids America.
Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Bentley High School, Lafayette, CA
I have trained friends and family in Footbal and also created athletic contests around football, basketball and track for many years. I am currently training a few close friends and athletes in Football. I engage in the non contact workouts as well and we have been doing this for almost 10 years. I was also a National Scout with an organization based out of Chicago called the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA). With this organization I evaluated mostly High School football athletes who were looking to earn a Division 1,2, or 3 scholarship. Within this process and during training, I gained a keen insight into what it takes to play at the next level and fine tuned my rapport building and passion for the game of Football. My father was also the Life Skills Coach at the University of California, Berkeley for the Football team for several years and I shadowed and learned from the work he did as a mentor and coach for the Student Athletes. I have also assisted on occasion the Rugby program at UC Berkeley under Jack Clark and Tom Billups. This program has won 28 National Championships since 1980.

I was a 2 way starter as a WR, DB, PR, KR for 3 years at Acalanes High School. I had over 100 catches and 2000 yards in my career and 20 touchdowns. Roughly 20 interceptions as FS and DB. I was All Area as a WR and DB as a JR and Sr and was selected to the Area All Star game. I was the Captain all 4 years and MVP several of those years. I was also awarded the MVP WR at Cal Football Summer camp in 1998. I was being recruited by several IVY League schools but chose to walk on at my parents alma mater, UC Berkeley. There were 5 other Freshman scholarship WR's that year in 1998 and I was awarded Scout Team MVP. I ended up focusing on Rugby during my career at Cal. Since then I have had several tryouts for the Arena League at WR, and have been playing in Flag League's at the highest competitive level for over 15 years. Football is my passion and my skill set as a coach and player is still getting better every year.

I will be passionate about building great rapport with the athlete and understanding at a interpersonal and data driven level what is important to them. Generally a workout will be on an artificial field with lots of space and we will begin with some chat and check in (how their day was, what they ate, how they are etc), warm ups, football running and catch, position specific drills and then extensive passing, route running and catching. It will be highly aerobic and engaging and coaching will be on the fly and also at rests. Weights and kettle bells and bags, and speed ladders and cone drills can be incorporated too. We will examine the players current play book and or teachings from family and friends and practice at length the necessary fundamentals. I will be running and throwing and catching with the athlete as well at times. If its a WR we will examine the entire passing tree, body positioning to maximize catching percentage, getting off the line, closing speed, engaging the route at optimum speed and aggression, how to cut and evade the defender, aerial skills etc. If its a DB we will work on coverage, footwork, bump and run, back peddle, shuffle and break, fumble forcing drills etc. Each workout will be tailor made to the athletes skill level and goals. These workouts can be for the athlete who wants to play at the collegiate or pro level, or someone who just enjoys the facets of football pass and catch and running recreationally. My goal regardless will be to fill the athletes emotional tank, build camaraderie and confidence, and improve every day in a safe, inclusive environment. Hydration and proper stretching, potential music, parents welcome. Going to be awesome.

Eric is a great coach! We had the best workout today. He was also really passionate about my goals and how to push me while making it fun! We used a rugby ball, tennis balls, footballs and a speed ladder for our interval track workouts. So cool! I felt like he was coaching me but also like we were teammates. It was an experience and really awesome. I'm excited for the next session and recommend him to all types of athletes.

He also provided great feedback throughout our session. I'm pumped to see results and it was just really fun.
