More About Coach Diego

I am currently part of the South Miami Senior High School football coaching staff (Go Cobras). This last 2017 season I coached the linebackers but have experience in coaching all levels of play. I started my coaching career as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and have been coaching football ever since. I have coached football at various high schools in Miami Dade County including Miami Killian, Mater Academy, and Coral Reef senior high. I am also currently coaching a 7v7 travel team out of the South Miami area. For the most part I typically work with high school athletes but I also have experience with younger kids ages 10 and up. I have volunteered at little league football programs and have also head coached an elementary school basketball team.

I started playing football in Miami at the age of 11 and have been around the game every year since then. (About 15 years) I was a four year varsity letter winner in high school and graduated with a 3.2 GPA. I later went to play football at Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa: one of the most prestigious colleges in the Midwest and also pretty well known for its athletics. I started as a freshman, suffered through a few injuries, but finished my career there with a conference championship and the first ever undefeated season in school history. I later came back to Miami, played a year of semi pro football, and currently I am still trying to keep up my game and continue to play football except without pads: flag football.

Well in order to properly train my athletes I first have to understand what they are trying to accomplish. What position do they play? What skills do they need? And from what stance do you start playing? Then I can customize the workout depending on the clients likes, wants, and needs. If it’s focused on strength and conditioning I will be sure to bring some equipment to aid in that. If it’s speed we can take the time to work on the fundamentals and techniques of running. If it is quickness I will be sure to work change of direction and target the fast twitch muscles of the legs. Regardless every workout will start with a warm up and end with a cool down ( typically a stretch).
