More About Coach Cory

From January 2010 through May 2015 I was a student assistant and graduate assistant at Western Carolina University. During this time I assisted with the Strength and Conditioning Program for the university football team and from 2012-2015 I supervised fitness activities and workouts for Freshman Physical Education. During the summers, I coached at camps for Offense-Defense Football, Blue Chip Football Academy as well as camps for WCU. During the 2014-15 school years I taught high school (part-time) and elementary;(full time) p.e. as part of my internship program. For the 2015 football season I was at East Coast Prep in Massachusetts where I coached the offensive line and was assistant offensive coordinator and for the 2016 season I was the offense of coordinators at Magnolia Science Academy in San Diego where I also served as a full-time physical education instructor.

During my time as a coach I have worked with players as young as six years old up through the FCS level of college football. I have a Masters Degree (double major) in Comprehensive Education/Health and Physical Education (3.94 g.p.a.) a B.S. in History (Cum Laude) and I am certified to teach K-12 health and physical education in North Carolina and California. I am First Aid/CPR/AED certified and credentialed as a Personal Fitness Trainer through NCCPT.

I’m originally from Canton Ohio and I began playing organized full content football at the age of nine. My high school coach is the father of Josh McDaniels, five time Super Bowl champion, Quarterback Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the New England Patriots. After high school I tried to continue my football career at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo but was injured during spring training and was unable to continue on the field.

In addition to football I have competed in various leagues for other sports including baseball, basketball, boxing ( incl. self-defense/martial arts ) soccer, wrestling, track and field. I earned two varsity letters in swimming. Beyond that I enjoy yoga, am an accomplished snow skier and I also enjoy riding horses whenever I get the chance.

Depending on the goals and abilities of my clients, my workouts can be quite diverse. I am educated in many areas of fitness training from power lifting to yoga, and a lot of things in-between. I have practical experience teaching adapted physical education as well as coaching college football players and am currently finishing a certification in senior fitness.

Typically I begin my workouts with dynamic warm-ups before moving on to a cardio/endurance phase. After a brief cool-down I usually work on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), addressing both endurance and muscular strength. Next the focus shifts more to strength and resistance training before finishing with relaxing static stretches.

That is a “template” format which I like to use for my own exercise, but I customize my program design for others to meet their needs and goals. Healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices is always the foundation but the details and style of my workouts vary according to the desired outcomes set forth by you. Let’s have fun and enjoy the process of progress - Let me help you reach your goals !
