With an outstanding resume after 15 years of coaching in the NCAA collegiate ranks, which included numerous highlights and awards, Christopher Asher decided to expand beyond that arena and follow a lifetime career goal of private athletic development and training. While working part-time in this field for the past 15 years and balancing it while coaching collegiate, post-collegiate, and professionals, he has decided to make this business his full time specialization while still serving as a collegiate coach in an assistant capacity which will allow him the flexibility to work on both of his coaching passions.
After a successful fifteen year coaching career where he first served as an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Cal State Fullerton (1997-2002), then the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Cal State LA (2002-2012) and now serving as an Assistant Track and Field Coach for sprints at UCLA (Present).
During his ten years as head coach, Asher coached five individual NCAA champions: Calista Lyon in the 2012 discus throw, Josh Como in the 2011 triple jump, Giorgio Bryant in the 2011 long jump, Omonike Kotey in the 2008 indoor triple jump and April Brown in the 2006 indoor 60 meters. While at Cal State L.A. he led student-athletes to an astonishing 83 CCAA individual titles, including 80 in track and field (51 in men’s track and field and 29 in women’s track and field) during his tenure. In Asher’s 10 years as head coach, the Golden Eagles earned 237 All-CCAA awards (115 in men’s track, 99 in women’s track and 23 in cross country). The Golden Eagles also had individual CCAA cross country champions in 2002, 2003 and 2007. Also, the Golden Eagles earned 85 All-America honors in cross country and track and field with Asher at the helm as head coach.
In the field of professional development in the coaching ranks, he has always served in the forefront. Asher is a Past President for Division II Track and Field for the United States Track and Field Cross Country Association and a former NCAA Track and Field West Region chair. He served on the USTFCCCA Track & Field Executive Committee as a past-president. He currently serves on the USATF Coaches Advisory Committee. Asher also served as a member of the prestigious NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Committee representing the West Region.
In the elite USA Track and Field and International coaching arena, Asher was a coach at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June and was an assistant coach for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain in July 2012. Athletes under his direct coaching tutelage brought home 8 medals for the United States including gold medals in the 400 intermediate hurdles and both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Team USA’s winning time in the 4x100m relay (38.67) is the #2 time ever run by a junior team in the world and only 0.01 off of the World Record!
Asher has also coached several elite athletes, including sprinter Joe Criner (20.14), Damein White (20.32), hurdler Derek Knight (13.20), current NFL player Greg Salas, former NFL player Reuben Droughns, current Major League Baseball relief pitcher Sergio Santos (Toronto Blue Jays), current National Basketball Association player Trevor Ariza (Washington Wizards) and 2005 Oakland A’s first-round draft pick Danny Putnam. He also has coached several athletes from the youth to the high school level in the world of speed and conditioning to college scholarships in a variety of sports.
Asher competed collegiately at Cal State Northridge from 1994-96. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Pan-African studies from Cal State Northridge in 1998 and his Master’s degree in education with an emphasis in physical education from Azusa Pacific in 2001.

My 11 year old son had 3 productive sessions with Coach Chris over his spring break. He's been wanting to improve his form and speed for his soccer games. Coach Chris tailored the sessions to him, saw what to work on, and how much to push. He'll be back for more.

My high school daughter and teammate in cross country had their first training and Chris picked up some issues that have never been mentioned by their high school coach. They look forward to their future sessions and dropping their times down. Greg

Coach Christopher is awesome! Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to become a better athlete!

Great, knowledgable, friendly coach...he's the best!

Coach Chris is exactly what we were looking for. He did a thorough and accurate evaluation of my daughter's running skills and gave her concrete ways to improve. After the first lesson she told me that he was much better at explaining the fundamentals of running than any other coach she had worked with. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable, but he's a nice guy. We highly recommend him!

Coach chris is an excellent choice. After one session by brother was amazed at how much he felt the pain as well as the gainLol!

She had a great workout today! She learned a lot in one session and we look forward to having her work with him in the future.

Chris is simply amazing. I instantly seen this man take my daugther to another level. I'm forever grateful.

My son recently worked with Coach Chris. It was very easy for us to that Chris has alot to offer in helping our son transition from over 11 years of travel ice hockey skating on the ice, to significantly improving his speed and sprinting skills for our son's two new sports - football and track sprints. He has evaluated our son and the many areas in need of improvement and is ready for the challenge. Thank you Coach Chris.

Coach Chris has prescribed me one of the best 5 day meals plans ever! With Hard work and dedication I am sure to achieve my goals in no time!
Christopher is an amazing coach. Not only is he knowledgeable about the mechanics of Track and Field he is able to properly access and improve your weight training program. The results are an emphasis on quality workouts and not the repetitive running the athlete to ground. Under Coach Asher I have already shaved off .5 seconds off my 200m Personal Record, I have PR'd in my 100m and I have yet to even put on spikes. If you want a Coach that will hold you accountable, focus on your technique and truly wants the best for you than Coach Asher is for you, but if you want a coach that simply will make you run circles and take your money than go with"insert random track coach you met name here
I am one of "Coach Asher's" athletes and I have been training with him since 4 months a go. His excellent knowledge and unique teaching-technique has made me qualified to participate in local tournaments in the field of running and sprinting. His ability to train and to improve athletes in a short period of time is remarkable.
I've had the pleasure of training with Chris and I definitely recommend his services. I'm pretty in shape but when it comes to targeting those hard to reach areas and sculpting I could not achieve that alone. This trainer definitely knows how to get his clients to their goals efficiently and professionally!
