More About Coach Christian

I have vast experience as a strength coach for a variety of sports and performance levels. I was the strength and conditioning coach for Men’s Field Athletes, Basketball, Baseball, and women’s cheerleading teams at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I co-founded the university of Texas at San Antonio powerlifting team which has been a nationally ranked team for over ten years. I have strength trained female softball athletes from St.Mary’s University as well as female soccer players from Trinity University. I am very well rounded. My biggest strength is the fundamental establishment of strength before specificity in all sport.

Former Texas State Golden Gloves middle weight champion (boxing). Black belt in Judo and Freestyle Karate. Instructorship in Muay Thai. 198lbs. weight class state ranked powerlifting champion while at UTSA. Former light heavy weight MMA amateur champion. National 17 and under basketball Olympic development squad.

I am very through and there is nothing random about what I do. It is always pre-prepared with options if the athlete is having injuries or fatigue.A)10-15 minutes specific warm ups, not just get on the bike and jog laps.
The athlete will be warmed up through all planes of motion (sagittal, transverse, frontal) B)Explosive training such as plyometrics and jump training. I do these first to maximize power output and decreased chance of injury C) 3 main lifts or key movements depending on goals and session outcomes. If the athlete is a novice or younger, I gravitate towards calisthenics to create kinesthetic awareness. I am also very cautious about challenging athletes with weight bearing loads if their musculature is not ready for it."Slow and Steady".If an athlete can not control their own body I would not challenge them with weights.I stick with the key lifts (military press, hang clean, bench press, squat, deadlift, lunges, chin-ups, and dips) D) accessory lifts to support major movements (typically these are hamstring and antagonist muscle training) E) corrective imbalance training (I rarely isolate muscles but if there is an issue, this is when I would address it) F) sport specific conditioning/Metcon/Tabata. G) Cool down and assisted stretching.

Client Reviews

In my research of training athletes on improving vertical leap I came upon Christian Morales. We bounced many Ideas off each other that worked. I have used much of what I learned from him in developing my own successful vertical jump training strategy. He is very keen on taping the vertical power potential in every athlete.
Christian is a coaches coach. He is who we turn to when we are trying to get the most out of one of our athlete's potential. Name a sport and he will create a program for you, If he doesn't know, he will be honest and tell you he is not sure, then will figure it out.He is the real deal, from training children up to elite athletes.
Christian was an amazing powerlifting coach while I studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I qualified for USAPL collegiate nationals and took 1st place in the 220lbs. weight class. Our team beat out every other university in Texas.
