More About Coach Charlie
I am currently an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Northern Michigan University. I have coached at several levels throughout the country as well. I have coached AAU teams over the summer. I have coached at various camps for the high school level. In addition, I have coached at a prep school in Orlando. So, I have dealt with players from many different ages and talent levels.
I played collegiate basketball at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. In my time there I became one of the most decorated players in school history. I was a 2-time All-American, a 3-time All-Conference player, a 3-time Conference Player of the Week, and an Academic All-American. I scored 1,443 points and gathered 778 rebounds in my career as well. I also played basketball overseas in England for the Newcastle Knights, where I averaged 22 points per game as we won several championships.
For all of my clients I would run through ball handling and shooting drills. If the player is a post, then I would work more on post moves and finishing around the basket. If the player is a guard, then I would work more on guard skills around the perimeter. I played both post and guard in college and overseas, so I know what to teach for both positions.
