More About Coach Brian

I am a 20+ year resident of Denver with certifications from Primal Health Coach, TRX, and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Personal Training (with additional Nutrition and Group Personal Training Specializations).

Although not a certified tennis professional (I am scheduled for the certification exam in January 2021), I've played competitive tennis for over 30 years – often against local tennis pros and high school coaches - as a 4.5 tennis player and captain for a Lifetime Tennis team. Over the years, I've taught judo, taekwondo, and soccer. My rapidly growing tennis business includes teens trying to "get to the next level" on their high school teams as well as adult beginners (through USTA 4.0 ratings) looking to learn this lifetime sport.

My sports experience is general:
• Played Texas high school football for 4 years (playing on both offensive and defensive lines where I was often outweighed by 40-80 lbs but was quicker and could almost bench press as much)
• Was a student and teacher of both judo (9 years...and had state and regional level USA Judo coaching certifications) and taekwondo (12 years)
• Have played tennis for over 30 years...many of those years at a 4.5 level against local club teaching pros and varsity tennis coaches.

All of these sports require that I focus on strength and conditioning both to improve performance as well as rehabilitate from injuries. I've successfully come back from 1 elbow surgery and 3 shoulder surgeries and still play at a USTA 4.5 level.

• I will impart a love for this lifetime sport with enthusiasm and skillful teaching that “meets you where you are”, considers your goals, and maps a reasonable strategy for improving your game.
• I will not only work on stroke fundamentals, but I will also improve your mental strength on the tennis court as well as situational awareness (stroke patterns, game and set scores, evaluating opponents for strengths and weaknesses).
• Almost every session will include mini-tennis (to focus on "touch" and how to "feel the ball"), volley, and then groundstroke and finally serve/return practice. I tailor each of these portions for your goals and abilities, and then we drilldown into your individual goals (how to hit a topspin lob or topspin serve, how to open up the court and dictate play, how to hit a slice return, "chip and charge", etc).

Brian is a fantastic coach! It has been amazing how he has improved my tennis in such a short span of time. His method of teaching is highly effective and unique. You can see how passionate and knowledgeable Brian is in tennis, and that has made lessons very enjoyable. He has the focus, knowledge and skills to motivate you to the next level. Coach Brian taught me different stroke fundamentals that made it easy to remember (hammer vs razor, windshield wiper, “carve the ball”, etc). He covers a lot of the fundamentals in each lesson (mini-tennis, volleys, ground strokes, serve). Very pleased with off court organization and communication. Overall, very pleasant experience.
