More About Coach Brian

I began coaching individuals in 2007 and I am a head coach for cross country and track at a local high school. I have experience in coaching high school aged athletes through the masters level. I have coached events from the 55 meter dash to the Marathon.

I have a passion for learning and feel very strongly that a coach should be able to explain to their athlete the reasons why they are doing a certain type of training.

I hold a IAAF Level 5 / USATF Level 3 Certification in Sprints and Hurdles where I graduated with distinction. I am currently working on the year long process of obtaining a IAAF Level 5 / USATF Level 3 Certification in Endurance.

Other USATF Certifications:

Level 2 Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays - University of California Fullerton
Level 2 Endurance - Marion University
XC Specialist - Villanova University
Level 1 - Long Island University
Basic Principals of Endurance Training
Sport Specific Strength & Power
Physiological Development Through the Athlete's Lifespan
Energy Systems and Motor Performance Abilities in Athletes
Basic Principals of Endurance Training
Training Science
Acute Fatigue Due to Training & Competition

Other Certifications:
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching
Concussion
AED/CPR & First Aid
Blood Borne Pathogens

Safesport

I was a member of my cross country and track teams in high school as well as cross country in college. I have competed in 30 marathons with 12 overall top 3 finishes. In 2013 I won the RRCA ultra marathon national championship.

A session plan depends greatly on the individual's event, training age, past history, short and long term goals. Testing might be needed to evaluate current fitness and overall ability for the event.
