More About Coach Brett

My experience in the game of soccer is is quite vast.
I played in college for Illinois Wesleyan University and was a starter at every position with the exception of goalkeeper, although I am still a very competent goalkeeper coach.
I have been coaching at the high school and club level for over six years, never having a team not win either a district or regional title under my supervision. Additionally, I have had multiple players move on to play soccer at the collegiate level, with those players totaling over $200,000 in athletic scholarships. I currently conduct private soccer training sessions but am looking to broaden the scope of my reach and impact on the game. These sessions focus on the tactical, technical, and physical development of the players under my tutelage. Sessions will be concise and focused, with a priority being placed on efficiency and fluidity to ensure that players remain engaged in the session. I have recently completed a soccer scouting algorithm that allows me to measure the impact that a player will have on a give team. I also have experience working with the Development Academy for the United States Soccer Federation. Currently, I work for the United Soccer Leagues as the Senior Director for Youth League Development, as well as being involved in the Olympic Development Program for Super Y League.

Player:
4-year NCAA Men's Soccer Player (Illinois Wesleyan University)
Most Improved Player
Academic All-Conference (CCIW)

Coach:
2x Regional Champion (Illinois)
1x Regular Season District Champion (Florida)

I run progressive training sessions. What I mean by this description is that I typically start a session with a very specific technical aspect of the game and have all of the skills that are worked on in the session build up to a final activity that incorporates all of the skills that have been utilized throughout the training session. For example, if the theme of the day was working in the attacking third of the field, I would begin the practice session with some drills that would emphasize passing accuracy and distribution. Then, I would progress on to working on turning in restricted space. The session would progress on to include some finishing and shooting drills. Finally, we would combine the skills acquired into one final activity that would have the player distribute a ball accurately, check into space, receive a pass, turn, and finish accurately on frame.

Brett has truly helped my son improve his skills in all aspects of the game. We are very pleased!

My son has had two sessions with Coach Brett so far and I am very pleased with how they have gone. He is very professional when conducting his session but at the same time manages to make my son feel at ease with the lesson and keeps him engaged the whole time. He has taken the time to assess my son's skill level, strengths as well as weaknesses so that he can focus on helping my son's quality of play improve. I am confident that, with Brett's help, my son will only get better...especially as I witnessed him play his best game ever last night!

Coach Brett was awesome! He was punctual and my son was very impressed with him. He was nice and taught him the soccer fundamentals that he needs to go forward. We will continue working with Coach Brett and I would recommend him to anyone!

Coach Brett went above and beyond in his training. He took the time to get to know our son and what he needed to work on. He was great to work with and answers all emails in a timely manner. Hoping to continue having our son train with him.

The player evaluation process included technical ability, tactical awareness and physical aspects. Coach Brett was fun and looking forward to the next session.

We just moved to Florida and our 10 year old wanted to make the jump from rec to travel and needed to close the gap on skills he was missing. The 3 sessions helped his focus and improved his confidence as he joined a new team. We plan on having more sessions with Coach Brett in the future. Highly recommended!

Excellent coach. Creates challenging training sessions, builds confidence via positive feedback and encouragement. Also very flexible and adaptable for scheduling.

Today was our son's first training session with coach Brett and we were very pleased! He focuses on initial techniques and team building skills along with real life play! He made it a part of the session to warm up and cool down after, which I believe is extremely important to an athlete's well being! He has already helped our son realize his ability to use "both feet" for accurate shots and passing. We are all looking forward to seeing what Coach Brett has in store for our next session!

I have played soccer since I was four years old and have gone through a multitude of coaches and never have I experienced one like Coach Brett. Brett Luy was my first private trainer and I was lucky enough to train with him 7 days a week over my summer and every aspect of my game began to improve. We focused not only on my weaknesses, but every part of my game. I was able to get the training I needed to continue my career into the collegiate level. In one session, we covered first touch, ball placement, runs, finding the right pass, ball control, 1v1, speed of play, explosion of speed, and technicals. Every session with Coach Brett is different and a player always works on different aspects of their game. Every session includes countless number of drills, which will undoubtedly improve a player’s overall game. Aside from ball work, Coach Brett also emphasizes the importance of fitness and proper recovery to take care of a player’s body. His training sessions include upper and lower body workouts, plyometrics, yoga, and all the while, he does it with the player. Coach Brett not only trains the physical part of the beautiful game, but also the mental part. He taught me that confidence in yourself and your abilities is what gets you further than anyone else, and he certainly helped me find mine. There is not a doubt in my mind that Brett Luy will get any player seeking a future in playing soccer where they need to go.
