More About Coach Ashley

I started coaching when I was 16 for the non-profit organization I started at when I was 11. I started off coaching the younger group which were middle schoolers, and after I graduated high school, going into college I started coaching the High School group. In college, I worked with an organization called Steady Buckets, working with children from ages 6-18. After graduating College, I am currently an assistant coach for the Women’s Basketball team at the City College of New York.

I competed, all 4 years of high school, was then recruited to go and play at Hunter College. Going into college my freshman year, it was our rebuilding year and I started as a freshman. We had a record under .500, but we found a way to make it to our conference semi-finals. After that we turned our program around and every year after that we finished the season with winning records and playoff appearances. My senior year we made another appearance in our conference semi-finals.

At the beginning of the session I would typically ask the client what their style of play is and pay attention to those details that I can tweak so I can help them become more efficient. I will also ask them what they want to work on, so I can demonstrate drills for how to improve their weaknesses. I also like to incorporate a lot of basketball IQ and how some of the moves and drills I use can help them in game situations.
