More About Coach Andrew

I have been coaching field and goal keepers since I was 17 years old! I've coached players of all shapes sizes and ages: from 6 years old beginners to 22 year old college athletes. I've been a goal keeper coach and team coach at travel clubs like: World Class FC, Ramapo Valley Soccer Club (RVSC), Clarkstown Soccer Club, North Rockland and Rockland FC. At the college level I have been a assistant coach & goalie coach at Saint Thomas Aquinas College and SUNY Purchase. Typically I work with players between the age of 13 and 22. I have a US Soccer National C license

In high school I was a all league, all section, all county goalie, and a state champion. In college I earned men's soccer scholar athlete and All American regional scholar athlete along with two all conference second team awards. In college I was also vice captain of a top 25 in the nation division 2 team in 2011. After college I have had trials with South Melbourne FC (Australia), Arizona United (USA), and Vestri (Iceland) Nordvarmland (Sweden) and Red Bull 2 (USA). I signed a professional with Icon FC in the ASLpro league and won the championship in 2015.

I coach both field players and goal keepers.

For field players I love stressing the basics. Majority of the sessions will be working on touch and technique. When it comes to touches I remind players that we must walk before we run! All sessions begin slow progressively moving into quicker more intricate drills. Allot of players are tunnel visioned and obsesses over the more difficult aspects of the game and want to be like Ronaldo or Messi immediately. I remind my athletes that building a strong knowledge of the game and focusing on basic techniques and drills will help them become the best player that they are capable of becoming.

I like to run a high tempo very technical goal keeper session. Fundamental footwork, positioning and hands are stressed in my sessions. My motto is that it doesn't matter how many top corner "ESPN" saves you make if you let in goals that you should have saved using fundamental movements and skills. Focusing on the "easy" saves and the little things is more important than the extravagant saves. The first half of my sessions are always based on a warm up, not only for the body but also for the mind. Repeating routine saves and footwork are all part of the first half of practice and doing them at a high pace so we can teach the body how to complete these tasks even when fatigue sets in. High tempo includes doing multiple reps with very little rest. For example having a keeper doing fast feet through 6 cones and then receiving a driven ball to his/her hands. This process with be carried out 6-8 times with no rest until all reps are complete. After doing multiple similar drills, when the body is warm, the session will progress to a "multiple ball" excercise and will most likely involve diving. A example of a multiple ball excercise is: starting in the middle of the goal, the keeper, runs towards the post and receives a driven ball to his/her hands at around chest height. After receiving this ball the keeper will then quickly make his way to the far post to save a second shot (which will require a dive). This drill will also be done 6 to 8 times with no rest until all reps are done. The second half of the session involves multiple drills similar to this. A cool down and proper stretch is required after the session to ensure proper recovery and prevent injury.

After just two sessions our eight year old son has new enthusiasm for soccer as a result of Coach Andrew's training techniques. The interaction between them is amazing and my son actually enjoys doing the "homework" Coach Andrew gives him after each session. We look forward to future sessions and highly recommend Coach Andrew T.

Update:
My son continues to train with Coach Andrew and his skills have improved tremendously. The training exercises and drills Andrew has him perform has increased my son's speed and concentration. Our son also enjoys and looks up to Coach Andrew who is always professional and patient.

Coach Andrew has done a great with my sons soccer game! He has learned to be more patient and has motivated him to practice more to be a better player. Would definitely recommend Andrew for anyone looking to improve their child's soccer game!

Hey Coach Andrew just wanna say thanks because this is the first time all year I actually felt like I gained something and benefited out of practice as a bench player rather than just being thrown to the side and feeling like someone who can't contribute to the team. So thank you again for making me a better soccer player today.
