More About Coach Andrew

Baseball has been a passion of mine throughout my whole life. I have coached players of all ages (including the collegiate level) on a volunteer basis, helping to improve players' swing mechanics, fielding footwork, throwing mechanics, and running technique.

I was a four-year varsity starter in high school. I played for three years at Horace Mann School in New York City and a year at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ where I earned All-League Honors. Recruited out of high school, I then went on to play collegiate baseball at Bates College in Lewiston, ME under head coach Jon Martin. I finished with a .297 batting average as a first-year middle infielder.

As a baseball trainer, my specific specialties are hitting and fielding instruction.
Hitting Instruction: Having a deep knowledge of the biomechanics that produce an efficient/powerful baseball swing, I am a large proponent of utilizing analytical data to improve the consistency and speed of a player’s swing. Topics covered in a lesson will include: depth of the swing plane, hip to shoulder separation, creating ground force, heel connection, launch quickness, and general body awareness. An additional emphasis on the importance of V.B.R.T (Vision, Balance, Rhythm, Timing) will be covered through various constraint and implicit-learning drills. PVC pipes, overload/underload balls, and overload/underload bats will be used frequently. An in-depth video analysis will be done at every session.
Fielding Instruction: In a fielding lesson, a player will learn proper funneling technique, shuffle and replace footwork, how to throw from multiple arm-slots, and how to approach various types of ground-balls with optimal efficiency.

Client Reviews

Coach Andrew was great with my 10 year old son. He provided just the right amount of instruction that did not overwhelm my son. Coach also gave my son mental tips to help him be more confident and have more fun on the field.
