More About Coach Amobi

I currently play for the Portland Timbers and I have been playing professionally since 2010.

I went to UCLA for soccer for one season before I was drafted 6th overall in the 2010 MLS draft. At UCLA, I won Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors and won the Pac-10 title. I've been playing soccer since I was 3. I started playing competitively with various teams when I was 10 years old.

I have been a part of every USA youth national team growing up playing soccer from u-14, u-15, u-17, u-18, u-20 all the way to u-23 olympic team. I was also selected to participate in the US Soccer residency program where the nation's top soccer individuals go to the IMG academy to play soccer and go to high school.

In terms of coaching, I have a good amount of experience training kids from various ages. I usually emphasize technical work and improvement with agility and base power. Depending on the player and what they really want to work on, I adapt my sessions but I really like to focus on the player's ball skills.

Depending on the player and what they really want to work on, I adapt my sessions, but I really like to focus on the player's ball skills. I believe first touch is the most important aspect to being a top soccer player so most of my sessions are focused on that. Working on weakness such as left foot technique or heading is also vital to being a better player.

Amazing experience!! Great coach, great player!!

Coach Amobi was great! My son had an awesome session! He was totally exhausted as Coach kept him moving and showing him different practice skills to do to improve his ball handling, kicking, and overall play. Coach was very patient and very professional, my son appreciated the information he was able to share. We are scheduling another session with Coach Amobi and I would definitely recommend him!

First session is all we have been through so far. Great experience, when I asked my son how he liked it and he said "like it? I love it!" well then I love it too!
Thanks coach! Look forward to many more. Keep on keeping on.

Amobi was awesome to work with. He was very good teaching drills to my 8 year old son. My son is learning proper technique from a pro. Can't get any better than that. Would strongly recommend Amobi to anyone interested in learning fundamentals/skills.

Amobi was a terrific coach for our 14 yr old soccer player. He could relate to her with respect, gave her valuable pointers for solo practice and had a great sense of humor! A great combination of skill, kindness, support and focus!
