More About Coach Alex

Experience coaching athletes ages 5-18 for 10 years and playing football for 16 years(Junior All American, High School, College, Professional). I've assisted in coaching yearly clinics for Mission Viejo High School and Mission Viejo Cowboys for all ages. 2017 I coached a U19 team in Switzerland to a National championship runner-up while also playing professionally for the Senior team as QB/Co-Offensive Coordinator and winning the National Championship. Each week before practice I would hold 30-60 minutes Quarterback sessions for the Junior quarterbacks and anybody that wanted to learn. Hosted weekly Receiver training sessions to work on route running, catching, and blocking.

Check out my coaching Instagram, @gridironguides.us and my blog at www.gridironguides.us ! Gridiron Guides blog is designed to help young student athletes looking to improve their game and become a better player, person, and teammate and try to become a strong student athlete. Our blog posts can also help parents looking to understand what their child is going through juggling sports and academics.

During free time in Europe, I would volunteer at local schools to provide free 2-3 hour Football Camps to teach kids what American Football is and spread awareness about the local team.

I love helping young athletes develop their skills and to learn to love the game. My goal is to make the game fun for kids the way it is meant to be and allowing the results speak for themselves. Everything I teach are things I have picked up and learned along my 16 year career.

Every workout is tailored specifically for the individual athlete and assessed in real time. Here is an example of a QB workout:

Warm-Up
Fundamentals of warming up and working on shoulder strength/mobility for 5-10 minutes. These are exercises and warmups the athlete can take home with them and apply anywhere.

Mechanics Assessment
Analysis and on-the-spot assessment of throwing mechanics and footwork performed every sessions. I want to pin point exactly where we can get better that day. Nothing is cookie-cutter or copy/paste for the athlete.

Mechanics Drills
Having targeted specific needs, specific drills will be used to improve on these areas.

Footwork Assessment
Being a quarterback is all about your feet. Being able to have the same footwork over and over again to keep a stable base to deliver the ball without thinking about it.

Footwork Drills
Pinpointing what areas of your game we need to work on to make your drops perfect. Building muscle memory and quick twitch response.

Cool-down/Arm strengthening
Near completion of workouts, the importance of cooling-down the arm while also adding strength to your long ball is a key component of my workouts. The athlete should leave every day feeling happy that their mechanics, footwork and fundamentals improved significantly but that their arm got stronger and healthier.

Film breakdown
If you would like, we can film session drills so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes its hard to just feel it, and seeing it can make a huge difference.

Please, direct message me if you would like any more info about session plans. I have over a dozen proven mechanic and footwork drills that I have learned over the years from childhood, high school, college, and professional level coaches and mentors.

Client Reviews

Alex has done a great job working with my 8yr old. Huge improvements after just the first 3 sessions. He’s great with kids and my son respects and looks up to him. I honestly didn’t think my son would make it through an hour session but he stays engaged and focused thanks to Alex’s positive attitude. Thank you, Alex.

Coach Alex is very skilled and takes a measured approach to training. His experience playing college and pro football really comes through in the way he works with players. He helped my son improve his throwing mechanics and boost his confidence out on the field. Highly recommend Coach Alex for anyone looking for QB or football training!

I could go on for a long time about Alex! Alex is without a doubt the most intelligent QB I have worked with in my 22 years coaching. You only have to explain a play once and he will remember every detail. Alex was one of our most liked/respected players on our team-a fantastic leader for us on offense. Alex is a physically gifted athlete who runs well and possesses outstanding anticipation and accuracy throwing the ball. There is not a finer person than Alex. When he decided to transfer to USC he dealt with it as well as I’ve ever seen-first class all the way. I have no doubt that Alex would be a great addition to your program.
There are many qualities about Alex that make him a great teammate, leader, and friend. My first memory of Alex is probably the most impactful. As a transfer I came into a program and an offense I had no prior knowledge of. Alex and I were the same position group. I could see that he was a very competitive player and an intense presence on the field. Quickly set the tone for me as to what I should expect playing the QB position. Noticing my obvious struggles of grasping the offense, he, instead of letting me struggle through a learning curve, made sure that every one of my questions was answered. Offering time outside of practice to even meet up to study the plays. His demonstration of expertise in the offense helped me to learn at a rate that wouldn't have been possible without his help. In a sport like football that is more competitive than you can imagine, he chose to bring his competition up and be a leader as opposed to a more selfish alternate route. I'll always be grateful for that. Off of the field, Alex still managed to carry himself with class and a demeanour that everyone could get along with. Never shy to lend a hand in a study group, or offer his time for extracurricular events. It was clear that many people looked to Alex, including myself, to see what decisions he would make which influenced the majority. This is the type of impact he had upon a team and student body. Alex is a very great teammate to have and an even better friend.
