I am currently a full-time Wellness Education teacher at Robert Adams Middle School in Holliston, Massachusetts. I have been teaching since the 2012-2013 school year, but am completing my second year in Holliston. I think that being introduced to a variety of different physical activities is important for children to learn how to live healthy lifestyles. Having physical education allows the students to develop passions that they hope to pursue throughout their lives.

I graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in Physical Education for grades preK-8. I have also completed my Master's of Science degree in Sports and Health Sciences with a concentration in Exercise Science and Human Performance through American Military University of the American Public University System in 2016. I have extensive experience analyzing the biomechanics of various sports movements to help athletes, and my students, improve their skills. I have utilized software to provide my players with the best possible video instruction and analysis. This allows my players to watch their own performance and allows me to write comments, measure angles, distance, and shooting technique directly on the video which I then share individually. I firmly believe that the use of this type of technology is a priceless tool for athletes in this day and age. They are able to take their game to the next level with this type of critical and informative feedback.

I will spend the first session putting athletes through various drills (shooting, dribbling, footwork, etc.) to complete a full evaluation. This evaluation will help me determine what to focus on each session. In addition to the physical evaluation, I will ask the athletes about their short and long term goals. It's important that athletes have an understanding of what they want to become on the basketball court (position, defensive/offensive minded, well-rounded, etc.) and what they need to do to get there. Determining their goals and aspirations will help keep them motivated and will increase the effectiveness of each training session.

When playing basketball, all the skills and techniques are utilized simultaneously. Therefore, I like to use drills that will replicate game situations as much as possible. Athletes can expect to work hard while refining their fundamental skills and improving their strength and conditioning. Many athletes don't understand how important it is to spend time improving strength, mobility, and conditioning. For athletes to take their game to the next level, they'll need to spend some time preparing their muscles for the strenuous nature of training sessions, practices, and games.

I utilize software to provide my athletes with feedback to improve their performance while giving them suggestions to work on in between sessions. Video recordings are taken during some sessions and are analyzed, broken down, and used to provide feedback to clients. The skills focused on in the video will be practiced during the training sessions and recorded again for comparison purposes. This helps track progress and improve retention of new skills and refinements of old ones.

Coach Alan was great. First of all, he was very responsive during the booking process. He was also one of the only coaches in the area with access to an indoor facility. During the practice he instituted a strong combination of cardio along with good instruction along the way.
