15 years total coaching experience from 4/yo youths just getting their start in the sport to high school state champions and D1 collegiate wrestlers. I build an athletes technique to compliment their natural physical strengths and safeguard or build upon their weaknesses. Every great coach thoroughly understands wrestling is an incredibly demanding mental sport - visualization, internal dialogue, and match strategy are things we'll not just work on during our session, but will show how you can develop and work on these things at home on your own.

I start every single session by asking my wrestler how they're feeling today. Any sore spots? New injuries? Mental sticking points or technique questions?

Then we get right into a 15 minute warm-up designed around the athletes specific needs; balance oriented exercises, strength, stretching, agility, etc. Encompassing all of these variables, but placing emphasis on variables the athlete needs most.

Now we drill for about 25-35 minutes. Drilling is the most important physical aspect in improving a wrestlers skill set so this is where we'll spend the majority of our time. Sometimes we'll prioritize the athletes number one attacks first. Sometimes we'll work on their weaknesses first. This depends on a few things; when their next competition is, do they have a specific opponent they're preparing for? etc. This is where we develop each wrestlers specific technique in regard to their body type, personality, and overall wrestling style.

Then we get into the really fun part, live wrestling one on one. About 15-25 minutes. I will wrestle just beyond each wrestlers unique maximum personal capabilities, forcing them to compete outside their comfort zone and push themselves to places of physical exertion and mental exhaustion they simply cannot reach on their own.

End with conditioning. Quick 5-10 minutes. This is the cherry on top. Sprints, push-ups, and grappling centered movements. I am here to mainly develop and improve your technique. My mindset is our entire session should be pushing the pace (so in effect improving your conditioning), but we will take time at the end of every session to burn the body out in order to really earn a mental edge.
