More About Coach Adam

(FYI if you have a friend who's interested in training feel free to split the hourly cost with them - making it $50/per athlete per session! I actually highly encourage this; this way you can practice the technique we work on outside our sessions with your partner.)

15 years total coaching experience from 4/yo youths just getting their start in the sport to high school state champions and D1 collegiate wrestlers. I build an athletes technique to compliment their natural physical strengths and safeguard or build upon their weaknesses. Every great coach thoroughly understands wrestling is an incredibly demanding mental sport - visualization, internal dialogue, and match strategy are things we'll not just work on during our session, but will show how you can develop and work on these things at home on your own.

-Former division one collegiate wrestler for Central Michigan University (team ranked #5 in the nation at the time)
-Two-time undefeated high school state champion from the state of Michigan.
-2009 Junior Olympic Champion
-2008 Super 32 National Tournament Runner-up
-5 time freestyle state champion
-1 time greco-roman state champion
-Michigan's First selected Dream Team 2009

I start every single session by asking my wrestler how they're feeling today. Any sore spots? New injuries? Mental sticking points or technique questions?

Then we get right into a 15 minute warm-up designed around the athletes specific needs; balance oriented exercises, strength, stretching, agility, etc. Encompassing all of these variables, but placing emphasis on variables the athlete needs most.

Now we drill for about 25-35 minutes. Drilling is the most important physical aspect in improving a wrestlers skill set so this is where we'll spend the majority of our time. Sometimes we'll prioritize the athletes number one attacks first. Sometimes we'll work on their weaknesses first. This depends on a few things; when their next competition is, do they have a specific opponent they're preparing for? etc. This is where we develop each wrestlers specific technique in regard to their body type, personality, and overall wrestling style.

Then we get into the really fun part, live wrestling one on one. About 15-25 minutes. I will wrestle just beyond each wrestlers unique maximum personal capabilities, forcing them to compete outside their comfort zone and push themselves to places of physical exertion and mental exhaustion they simply cannot reach on their own.

End with conditioning. Quick 5-10 minutes. This is the cherry on top. Sprints, push-ups, and grappling centered movements. I am here to mainly develop and improve your technique. My mindset is our entire session should be pushing the pace (so in effect improving your conditioning), but we will take time at the end of every session to burn the body out in order to really earn a mental edge.

Adam is invested in you as a student from Day 1. He highly respects students of all levels, and demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and consistency with his weekly sessions. Most importantly, Adam’s respect to the sport of martial arts and wrestling is exemplary to the teaching profession. Adam has a keen sense to assess and evaluate a wrestler’s strengths and weaknesses, and is able to develop a game plan that is catered to one’s unique abilities and body type. After the first session, Adam was able to study my abilities, and even send videos of wrestling styles and moves that would fit my body type and improve my game. He is able to expand upon the instruction found online, to help bring the moves to life and ingrain them in the student’s muscle memory. Adam exemplifies that studying with live, one-on-one instruction is an invaluable experience. He is able to show different gradations to his wrestling skills to match your own, as to not overwhelm you, but also enough to push you to where you need to be. Adam’s lesson planning is solid, as he is comfortable going through just one or two moves per session for intermediate students, and does repetition and and drills necessary to bring certain moves in the arsenal into muscle memory. He is patient, and very easy to learn from, as he establishes a very comfortable student-teacher relationship with students. He knows what he is doing, and is good at what he does. He demonstrates himself to be a life-long learner, and is extremely balanced in strength and skill, and well-versed in his technique. You will not be disappointed!

I have trained with a great number of different coaches for the experience and education. I found Adam on Coach Up and thought I would try a session. Before contacting him I was debating my future in the wrestling and BJJ. I was burnt-out and lacked motivation to train. I was honest with Adam in the beginning and in a very short time he helped me improve in all areas. He got me out of my slump and sparked my love of the game again. Adam wasted no time in going over my needs and bringing them to whole new level. The progress did not stop when I left the training center. Adam gave me a nutrition plan, training regimen, plan for the future and a tournament game plan to win. No matter what you are looking for Adam can help, advance your game and build confidence. There are many coaches, different prices and different styles but I can honestly say Adam can help with all areas of one’s journey. He has improved my fitness, shown me new moves, developed a plan going forward, built my confidence in myself and most importantly returned my love of the game. If you are debating about a personal coach, don’t wait, given Adam a try, you won’t be sorry, not every can teach, he can. If you want to excel he can assist anyone in getting you there quickly in a manner that is easily understood and retained. Zero to sixty in no time at all.

This guy’s the real deal. On point, focused. Cuts to the chase and delivers a specific plan that can optimize the growth curve of a wrestler

Adam obtained immense success as a high school wrestler and beyond and has continued to help others of all ages in the sport of wrestling. Adam communicates technique clearly and demonstrates it accurately. He has a high focus on the finer points of good solid wrestling technique. Adam will not only help with technique, but he adds inspiration, as well as success principles for both wrestling and life.
