Smart Light Sports
Smart Light Sports was born out of many frustrated nights on dusty baseball diamonds, frigid hockey rinks and sun-scorched fields. In 2010, realizing players were not responding to traditional coaching methods, Coach Joe Dellanno and his team sought out a solution that would appeal to today’s tech-savvy student athletes.
What they discovered was SLS projection technology - a world class learning environment custom designed to each player. The technological solution provided players with on-ice visual cues (without orange cones!) such as animated drills that holds their attention, allows players to remember drills and plays, and provides game-like drills that promote competition.
SLS's unique lighting system displays patterns on the ice or field (SLS technology is currently being used for ice hockey, baseball, and lacrosse) for drill execution. It tests players responsiveness in more game-like situations.
SLS's technology has also been leveraged to help connect with athletes with special needs. The innovative technology allows athletes of all skill levels and abilities to participate in the sports they love, be active, and laugh with friends.
Coach Joe Dellano has been coaching since 2001, starting with his kids' first tee ball team. In 2011, he began coaching young athletes individually with the help of Smart Light Sports technology. Joe is a Level 3 USA Hockey coach. To date, Joe has placed athletes at the Division I and Division II levels.
