More About Coach Ron
I enjoy working with players of all ages and levels, from the pee-wee's to the pro's, but I especially enjoy the challenge of coaching ages eight to eighteen, because with them I can make the biggest difference in their youth, middle, high school, and college football games. My specialties include footwork, hand moves, playing off blocks, eliminating unnecessary movement, and developing mental toughness. I focus on teaching when and how to use a move based on the offensive or defensive positions. I always build confidence, (ABC's rule) and teaching the player to always be prepared to win the one on one battles.
As a coach we won the 1998 Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) World Champions Louisiana Bayou Beast defeated the Madison Wisconsin Mad dogs.
Also in 1997 North American Football League (N A F L) runner up (ranked #2 out of 120 teams nation wide the Louisiana Hurricanes (lost) World Championship to Central Pennsylvania Piranha's.
As a player at Walter L Cohen High School (Green Hornets) 2 times City of New Orleans All City team/ State of Louisiana All State teams as a Linebacker/ Strong safety. Prairie View A & M University South Western Athletic Conference ( S. W. A. C. ).
My first coaching session is always safety first, one on one. Nothing is more important than the safety of our players. The main part of my tackling skills training is focused on safety in the form of proper tackling technique. HEAD ALWAYS UP! My number one rule in tackle football is "If you can't see it, you can't hit it!" Every session I teach the athletes the right way to make a tackle and why it's important to NEVER lead with the top of your (helmet) head. I do this in an environment without equipment, where there is no player to player full contact. I teach technique by practicing on padded dummies. Tackling can be incredibly fun and very rewarding. With the right attitude, the proper tackling technique, and respect for your opponent on the other side of the ball. Always play HARD and never play to HURT, and all of our athletes can thrive in this sport call American tackle football.
