More About Coach Michael

As a passionate sports enthusiast with a deep love for coaching and training, I have gained valuable experience through informal and voluntary roles, including coaching a youth team for a season and conducting training sessions for friends and family. While I may not have extensive formal experience, my enthusiasm for the sport and dedication to continuous learning drive me to provide the best guidance to athletes. Currently, I'm eager to work with athletes of various age groups and skill levels, offering introductory and discounted sessions as I continue to build my coaching portfolio. My focus is on fostering a positive learning environment and helping athletes improve their performance while instilling a love for the sport.

I graduated from West Ranch High School in Valencia, California in 2012. During my time there, I was a three-year varsity letterwinner and contributed to the team's League Championship victory in 2012. Additionally, I was recognized for my academic achievements and named to the All-Academic team. I had the honor of participating in various All-Star games, including the Southwest Futures All-Star game, and represented the Junior Olympic team, which secured the West Championships. Throughout my high school years, I received the Honor Athletic award each year.

Following my successful high school career, I had the privilege of playing at the Division I level with Loyola Marymount University in the West Coast Conference. In 2015, I had the opportunity to be drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 25th round of the MLB Draft. However, I decided to return to LMU for my senior season.

After my senior year, I took my talents to the professional level and played within the Kansas City Royals organization from 2016 to 2018. I worked my way up to Low-A before ultimately deciding to retire from professional baseball. Currently, I am back in Surprise, Arizona, where my professional career began!

How I Work with Athletes:
I begin each session by understanding the athlete's current skill level, goals, and any specific areas they wish to improve. Throughout the session, I provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and individualized feedback to help them make progress. I believe in a positive and encouraging coaching style, emphasizing the importance of practice and patience in their development. By incorporating a mix of drills, techniques, and mental training, I aim to build well-rounded and confident pitchers who can excel both on and off the field.

Client Reviews

I am writing this letter on behalf of Michael Silva, a former professional minor league baseball player in our organization, the Kansas City Royals. Many of the standards set for our organization are based on pride, discipline and preparation. We ask our players to wear our uniforms in a professional manner by mandating a uniformed look in pant length and wearing our hat proudly by never covering the front of our hat with sunglasses so the “KC” logo will always be visible. Our players must also be clean shaven at all times, be on time, take ownership of their actions, and value team work. These are the principles we believe will help during their playing career but even more so after their baseball careers are completed. These are qualities Michael demonstrated during his time with the Kansas City Royals organization and are qualities which make him a perfect fit for any organization, job or company. In addition to his on- field successes, Michael was a leader by example, a competitor and a player we were proud to call a Royal”. Many of our staff members viewed Michael in the same light and was a player all wanted to have on their team. He was a “professional” in every sense of the word. Please consider Michael, as I believe he will represent you very well and excel in anything he pursues in life. Sincerely, J.J. Picollo Kansas City Royals VP/Assistant GM, Player Personnel
