Introduction Video
More About Coach Michael
I have been tutored by former\current professional coaches and ex-major league players such as Burt Hooten, Norm Charlton, Jamie Moyer, Kevin Gross, Gary Wheelock, Brad Holman, Hub Kittle, Bryan Price, Tim Johnson, & my favorite tutor Chris Bosio. I have taught pitching lessons to local kids ages 7+ since i started playing in the minor leagues in 1999 and i still currently give lessons now, as i still am a student of the game. I'm always learning something new in baseball, an aspect i definitely enjoy.
I signed with the Seattle Mariners
1-week after i graduated from Bellflower High School in June of 1999, completing my first season at the age of 17 going 2-0 for the Peoria Mariners in the Arizona Rookie League. In 2000, i went 5-0, winning a League Championship in the Arizona Rookie League. Invited to Compete in the Instructional Winter League in Arizona that offseason with Mariners. 2001, i played for the Everett Aqua Sox in the Northwest League. I also was invited again to the Mariners instructional Winter League in Arizona, getting to pitch to an ex-world series MVP, catcher Pat Borders. In 2002 i played with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the Midwest League, leading my team in era(2.25), second in appearances(38), and second in saves(6), striking out players such as Joe Mauer, Scott Hariston, Mike Napoli, Jeff Mathis, Casey Kotchman, Yadier Molina, and Jason Kubel just name a few. Competed in spring training with the Chicago White Sox in 2004. I led the entire Frontier League in strikeouts (141 k's\128innings), and second in complete games(7cg\18 starts)playing for the Chillicothe Paints in 2004. Also named to the Frontier League All-Star team in 2004. I struck out 15 batters in one game while walking zero batters against the Florence Freedom. With two weeks remaining in my 2004 season, i was signed to the Houston Astros Carolina League Affiliate Salem Avalanche, pitching a complete game in my first start in the new league (8ip, 8ks, 0BB, 3 runs allowed, L3-2). In 2005, i competed in spring training with Astros, leading all spring training pitchers in strikeouts. In 2006, i pitched for the Amarillo Dillas in the United Baseball League, again being named to the All-Star Team for the second time in my career. I struck out 93 batters in 96 innings.
Teaching a proper Stretch routine would be first.
Teaching a proper throwing(warming up) routine would be second.
Teaching a proper Bullpen routine would be third.
Teaching a proper conditioning\running program would be fourth.
A cool-down chalk-talk would close out the session.
All sessions videotaped to be reviewed by student and myself...

Coach Michael carries such a positive attitude and really knows a lot about pitching. First session was really good my son enjoyed it. Coach teaches you about mechanics and how to increase your power when pitching. Overall such a great coach.

Coach Mike was great with my son. He was teaching him proper throwing and pitching techniques and was very encouraging. My son is 9 and can lose focus sometimes but Coach Mike was able to stay positive, patient and was always encouraging. Looking forward to our next session and seeing my son's growth as a player.

Coach Michael was great with my son. He was very patient with my son during his session and very knowledgeable about the sport and how to work with my son.I’m looking forward to many more sessions and seeing my son grow as a baseball player. Coach Michael is very supportive to athlete, willing to share his skills and experience. Awesome
Mike (CoachUp client)
Michael was ok. He knew some stuff but he didn’t seem to help my son during stretches he just stretched and talked. He seemed really rushed, he showed my son some cool stuff and was very positive but the overall experience wasn’t very comfortable and my son wasn’t feeling it. He may be great for older kids my son is 8 so he might have been way too young for this coach.

One of the best coaches my son ever had, he slowly went through stretches, and helped with his throwing. Would recommend to anyone!
Adrian (CoachUp client)
Coach Michael was great with my son. He tweaked a couple of things during the first lesson and I instantly saw improvement in my sons pitching.

Gary Zelman/ Player/Coach LABL Valley Mets (Testimonial)
I know Mike Kesten. Kids Love him and respond to him. He is patient, and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. (Did I mention he throws GAS?).............By the way...I have played for and run the most successful Men's Amatuer Baseball team in the history of the Los Angeles Baseball League.. The Valley Mets have had Jose Canseco, Matt Whisenant Scott Singleton, Jeff Ahern, Metta World Peace, and Glendon Rusch just to name a few as teammates....Mike was definitely one of the Best Pitchers we ever had!....
