More About Coach Meaghan
I have been practicing yoga for over fifteen years and completed my 200-hour teacher training in the YogaWorks program (which is based on the precision of the Iyengar system and the flow of the Ashtanga method). I completed multiple workshop retreats dealing specifically with Yoga for Back Care, with a special emphasis on scoliosis and other spinal issues. Yoga has also proven to be an invaluable addition to my other athletic pursuits, including several sprint triathlons and half marathons. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Physical Therapy at Boston University.
I enjoy working with clients of all ages and abilities and look forward to developing personalized yoga sessions depending on students' needs. I recently completed a continuing education course dealing specifically with hands-on adjustments, and offer hands-on modifications throughout private yoga sessions.
I believe that when we practice awareness, mindfulness, and compassion during a yoga class, these qualities eventually become incorporated into our everyday lives. Ultimately, I see the greater purpose of yoga is to be more flexible, aware, and loving to both ourselves and others. I continue to be inspired by the ways in which both the physical practice and the philosophy of yoga positively affect my life, and hope that I can inspire others to find joy and self-awareness through their own practice.
Staying physically active has been an important part of my life since I was a teenager. During high school I played varsity basketball and lacrosse. In college, intramural sports were a great way to stay in shape while meeting new people. Post-college, I've completed several sprint triathlons and half marathons. During these years and activities, yoga has always been an important tool to keep my muscles strong and flexible - an crucial combination to keep the body aligned, to aid in muscle recovery, and to prevent injury.
During a typical one-on-one private yoga session, I will incorporate each student's personal needs and abilities to structure a personalized sequence of postures. Yoga is a wonderful tool with many physical and mental benefits, ranging from stress reduction to injury prevention. Modern society demands a lot from the human body: sitting for extended periods of time; the constant bombardment of emails, texts, and tweets; and long hours staring at a computer screen. For the hour that we practice yoga, we turn our attention inward and unite breath with movement. Sessions begin with a gentle warm-up, awakening the muscles that remain inactive for so much of the day. As the practice progresses, the intensity may deepen as we continue to strengthen and stretch the entire body. I believe very strongly in proper alignment, and will use both verbal cues and hands-on adjustments to allow the student to find his or her truest expression of each pose. A typical class will enforce flexibility, balance, strengthening, and breath work. Each session concludes with a period of meditation, where the student lets go of all effort and allows the effects of the practice to sink in. I provide the necessary props (blankets, blocks, straps, etc.) and am able to rent studio space if necessary.

Coach Meaghan was an awesome coach! We love having her in the office as our resident yoga instructor! She goes at a nice pace and make sure the class is suited for all levels. We will continue to have her back!

Meaghan is AMAZING! I'm a competitive athlete new to yoga, and Meaghan was the perfect coach. She understands body alignment and movement perfectly and helped me incorporate yoga movements to open up my body. She's extremely attentive but also very calm at the same time. I was planning on doing 1 session to try it out but now I'm about to book weekly sessions with Meaghan!

Meaghan is a great Yoga instructor. I am new to Yoga, so she was very good at making the exercises challenging, but not overwhelming. I lost my balance a few times, but I never felt like I had "failed". She was also very good at determining what I wanted from Yoga and was clear about how the exercises we did were designed to reach that goal. Two thumbs up.

I approached Meaghan about taking up yoga a little over a month ago. Prior to working with her, I had never done yoga and I was experiencing a diverse array of injury issues with my hips, back, hamstrings, etc., all of which stemmed from my inflexibility and various imbalances. I have been meeting with Meaghan on a weekly basis since we started working together and I can safely say she has got me hooked on yoga and its benefits. As a distance runner, I believe remaining limber, balanced, and centered is critical to achieving peak performance and to avoiding injury. Meaghan has taken from her own personal experience as a runner to personalize our work together and has remained conscious of the unique demands that stem from my injury history and sport.
Introducing yoga to my training routine has been an excellent decision. I have been an athlete all my life and I am now regretting not turning to yoga sooner to help my injury issues. I know a lot of people who participate in endurance events and if any of them ever inquire about yoga or ask how I have seemingly solved so many of my injury issues in only a couple months, I will be referring them to Meaghan. My experience training with Meaghan has been worth every penny and, perhaps more importantly, every minute of the time I have spent working with her!

Meaghan is fantastic. We've done a couple of private sessions together and she is always patient. She's great at explaining detail and modifying a plan spur of the moment based on what we want to focus on. Will definitely keep working with her.

Meaghan Q is terrific and deserves all of the 5 stars. She is knowledgeable and thoughtful and she tailored the yoga practice to my goal -- flexibility for golf. Having done two sessions with her, I can say with confidence that Meaghan is great to work with and I highly recommend her.
Theresa (CoachUp client)
Meaghan did a wonderful job in addressing the issues I was concerned with. Her calm, soothing voice just puts you at such ease. I carry tension in my neck and shoulders and she was able to really open up these areas as well as deal with abdominal tightness. As a singer, these areas need to be loose and tension-free. The deep breathing really helped as well. Meaghan is very knowledgeable about the body and was very good at explaining the benefits of each pose. Will definitely book her again!

Meaghan was a dream to workout with! We booked for a small group session and she came right to the CoachUp office. We cleared a space for her and she was such a great sport, leading us through vinyasas first think in the morning in our work space. Meaghan has such a relaxing disposition which made it a great session. She infused just the right amount of calm with a sprinkle of challenging moves and alterations. Would highly recommend working with Meaghan for one-on-one coaching and especially for a small group session!
Angelica (Testimonial)
Meaghan is a wonderful instructor and I thoroughly enjoy attending her classes. I have attended many yoga classes for the past few years and her class is by far my favorite. I find her classes to be the perfect combination of challenging yet restoring that I am looking for in a yoga session. I have always had a great deal of flexibility and what I love about Meaghan is that she looks to lengthen yet strengthen my extensions with simple adjustments that show me a new way to control my deep stretches. Moreover, with her soothing voice and gentle adjustments you will leave the studio feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I highly recommend Meaghan for her knowledgable instruction and fantastic practice.
Liam (Testimonial)
Meaghan is very well able to accommodate all skill levels in the classroom. I came into her class a beginner, pretty ignorant of what yoga was all about. Since then I’ve gone to her class weekly and have been loving every minute of it. She’s been great in devoting some time to me every class to help me learn while also engaging the whole class, no matter how many participants there are. She’s also apt to mix up the routine and throw new interesting poses into every class. Meg’s voice and overall demeanor are perfectly suited for the yoga classroom; relaxed, friendly, and encouraging (great music too!). The more I do yoga, the more I believe that it is a vital practice for any athlete. I’d highly recommend taking a class with Meg, you won’t be disappointed.
